In section 7.2 on existential constructions, I don't think it's made clear enough why example (94b) is marked as ungrammatical. I think that example should be moved to after the paragraph introducing (95a), or removed entirely. I think what I wanted to illustrate here is the difference from English...

And, the use of articles arose when the shifts from Old High German to Middle High German wrecked the original case marking with suffixes, most notably because of V → ə / [-stress]_ (which also simplified conjugation).
