And then I wanted to say: The poet is a liar who always says the truth. So I had: T? an file br?agad?ir a (d?anta na f?rinne) i gc?na?. What I don't understand is why it's d?anta na f?rinne. It seems to me it would be an expression, as in "well, to tell you the truth, she's sick - Uell, t? s? tinn, ...

I tried saying this:
English: Distance makes the heart grow weak.
And I got this:
Irish: Laga?onn an fad an croi.

But I feel something is wrong. Perhaps too long not studied.

I remember when learning Scottish, they would pronounce ainn (againn maybe?) like [a?n] or something. Which is abit like [aun]

But do you know where the people in the recordings I own might come form, knowing they say "inniuv" and "'Bhfuil" (not An bhfuil)?

Dewrad and I have said it before: Your biggest single problem is carrying around the default assumption that Welsh works like English. Unless you've been explicitly instructed otherwise, you assume that the syntax will be exactly the same. As you can see, it's not a safe assumption. Celtic language...

Scoil is [skUL]. And it'd be really good if you made a recording! Ach t? m?r?n oibre bhaile agam a dh?anamh. In this case, you'd say le d?anamh , because you have homework "for" doing, if that makes sense. Similar sentences would be: An bhfuil rud agat le n-ithe? ~ "Do you have anything to eat (for...
