Re: My first Conlang, Ámarú
There are clickable IPA charts that play the sound represented by the symbol when you click them somewhere on the internet that can be found by Google. Wikipedia has sound samples if you go to the page for the sound. Also, phoneme inventories are usually presented in code tags (align them in Notepa...

Re: My first Conlang, Ámarú
Well I am no linguist, or even expert in doing this sadly. The IPA was extremely difficult for me to decipher in places, as finlay pointed out. However, I have gone back and reviewed the vowels at least and I am going over my notes. I'll update the original post when I've a better handle on what I h...

My first Conlang, Ámarú
I had intended to do biologies or mapwork with my recent bout of free time, but I kept hitting upon an issue. I couldn't name a blasted thing! Instead I was reduced to stringing together syllables with no meaning. This wouldn't do, so I stopped that other stuff and decided to put together a naming l...

Re: Programs for Drawing on a Sphere
I've been using gprojector for a few months now since I learned of it's existence.

Re: Latest maps
Dark red is tropical rainforest. There is no seasonal or monsoon rainforest due to the low axial tilt. The orange is a climate with no exact equivalent. It's savanna-like, but with year-round rainfall. (But not quite dry enough to be steppe.) The east coast mid-green is humid subtropical. The tan/b...

Re: Latest maps
How did you create that Mollewide projection? And the other non square projections? I can't comment on climate either as I don't have a reference key. But I like the work you've done, it looks pretty good. It's a NASA program that you can download free - see the link in the resources linked in my s...

Re: My World Maps
Thankyou Qwynegold and FearfulJesuit for your feedback. It's been much appreciated and I've incorporated as much of it as I felt was prudent. I have redone the Tectonic Map of my Conworld and made further alterations to my climate map as a result. My Climate Map has also been updated, taking note of...

Re: My World Maps
spiral continent :D are those plausible ? [legitimate question, idrk] sad thing is me being kinda colorblind and bad with colors to boot, and the colors in the map being relatively unintuitive [mountain is yellow? steppe is deep brown?] i can't much comment on climates I do see, however, that the e...

Re: My World Maps
Looks fine to me at first glance. There are a few places where you go straight from Aw to BWh, where you should probably have some BSh in between. Also, there should probably be some Am between the Af and Aw. And the Am areas may be a bit too large. Thanks for the feedback. I've made some changes b...

My World Maps
I've had a bit of free time come my way recently and I decided to use it to tackle the map of my conworld. I'm pretty sure I've gotten loads wrong but I would appreciate any feedback anyone here may have regarding these, especially if there are any glaring mistakes. http://img194.imageshack.us/img19...

I'm extremely lucky. I've had gross, nasty colds/mild fevers several times in the past few years, but I've never had the flu before, and it's been like 5 years since I last threw up... Likewise (it's like that Seinfeld ... ); I must have a good immune system or something, as I rarely get sic...

In my country all the places were originally named in Gaelic pretty simplisticly e.g. Srath Ban meaning white river or Dubh Lin meaning black lake. Following the English conquest they just converted the Gaelic names into the nearest sounding English. Srath Ban and Dubh Lin therefore became Strabane ...
