Quirky use of /s/ in Swedish /s/ is primarily used as an affix to make verbs passive: Att se vs att ses ; jag ser vs jag ses 'To see' vs 'to be seen'; 'I see' vs 'I am (being) seen' (It is also possible to say att bli sedd or jag blir sedd , just like in English.) Despite being indo-european, Swedish has got some interesting voice phenomena. Just like Latin there are deponent verbs (passive in form but active in meaning). Also, there are reciprocal verbs, which if put into passive mode translate as "each other". An example: Att se , to see, in 1st person plur...
