Re: Polyglottal Telephone 17 [done]
I'm really sorry, guys. I honestly thought I would have time for this but I've been so busy work that I forgot about it completely. I know that's a rubbish excuse. :/

Re: French T/V Confusion
" Maj-Britt , can I quickly ask something about the exam?" Ah, I saw your location and wondered if you went to uni as me! This name ^^ answered that question; I recognised it straight away, even if [to stay on topic] I don't remember addressing her as such! I took her fourth year course on spoken v...

Re: Raising a child billingually on a second language
Hmm, not quite the same situation, but I have wondered how my hypothetical future child(ren) would fare if my boyfriend and I were to have kids together. My native language is English, whilst his is Polish but we speak to each other in French. Do you think that if our child were being raised in Fran...

Oops. Usually I make a couple of little mistakes that don't really rubbish things up too much but I seem to be wholly responsible for introducing mushrooms into the story out of nowhere. Hmm. :/

Out of: English, French, Spanish, Italian, German, Polish*, Mandarin
Into: English, French, Spanish, Italian
* Preferred; I noticed this time around someone else will also do Polish so hopefully you can get it in there. I'd really like to give it a go. :)

Re: Polyglottal Telephone XIII
Done and sent. It was...strange. It's been a while since I've done any Latin translation so we'll see how it turns out! There were parts that really made sense and others where I didn't really know what was going on. :/ Also, the pronoun thing; I didn't get who was who. Never mind, though! I gave it...

Re: Polyglottal Telephone XIII
I'm kinda tempted to put another language into mine just to screw things up a little. I've no idea what, if any, languages I could do, though. I suppose it all comes down to whether you have a decent dictionary. I might be able to translate out of Dutch, that's the only thing I can think of. But I'...

Re: Words and expressions you overuse
I start English sentences with "also" a lot, as well. And in Maltese I tend to use "hux" a lot, which is generally overused by people my age. It means something along the lines of "I know, right?". Something like that at least. As soon as I saw 'Maltese' the first thing that sprung to mind for me w...

Re: Polyglottal Telephone XIII
From: English, French, Spanish, Latin, Italian, German, Polish, Mandarin. To: English, French, Spanish (or any of the others above, I suppose ...it is meant to be a challenge, after all). I'd really like to translate from Polish, though, if anyone will translate into it. And to whomever mentioned Sw...

OK, I received the text this morning so I've done a rough translation and I'll refine it after lunch before sending it on. Most of it makes sense, but there is one phrase that seems rather strange. I hope I can put it down to the text having changed a fait bit already and it's not just me being dens...

Nope. When did Google Books become only available in the US? I'm in Europe and I used to use that feature a fair bit when I was at uni.

Oh! This is the first time I haven't just just missed this. I've love to give it a go. I can do: Into: English, French, Spanish; From: Any of the above plus Italian, German, Polish and Mandarin. Actually at a push I could translate into those languages...I like a challenge, but it could turn out bad...

Oh, and my boyfriend suggested another useful term: coulis , which refers to a sauce made by cooking and straining vegetables or fruits that is generally served chilled. Out of curiosity is it /kuli/ since it looks French? Yep. to cut (someone) off...that's what's used around here, I don't know abo...

Nectar? It's not a common word in English, and in fact here in England, at least, no-one really drinks it, but you can buy it at Lidl. No, it's not nectar. Ew! I once accidentally bought pear nectar at Lidl in the belief that it was pear juice. It was disgusting. Hmm, Wikipedia tells me that saft i...
