Quick question about Dutch /G/
Hello all. I've always seen Dutch <g> transcribed as /G/, but, in any spoken Dutch I've heard, it always sounds like [X]... if anyone knows anything about this you guys will. As a novelty, it's a great idea, and it's also good if Zomp wanted to further utilise his lang or showcase it, but for the purpose of being useful , it's not worth wasting time on. It's the kind of thing I'd spend weeks partially-completing, and then give up on before I'd finished. Of course, more p...
Wikipedia is wrong-- it's not (or wasn't) velar but dental or alveolar. It said dental click, I think it meant that it is coarticulated with [k]... and as I understand it, all clicks have coarticulations of some sort, so I'm assuming Wikipedia was actually right. I could, of course, be wrong though...
I think it's a dental click (X-SAMPA [k|\)]).
Wikipedia wrote:Prior to 1989, [ʇ] was an accepted IPA representation of the voiceless velar dental click.

In the style of road safety, here's a little 3-step guide to post safety: STOP! Before hitting the "Submit" button, hooold it right there. LOOK! Look at your post. If it contains more than one "OMG", "YAY", "SCRIPTY", "PRETTY" or "", delete all duplicates. LISTEN! Read the post aloud to you...

A lot of information to take in here, but I managed to understand it  Can I nominate this for the L&L museum, perhaps? I know it's in C&C but I think it deserves a place there. Nevertheless, I've decided to make Ewari an ergative-dechticaetiative language... thinking this through carefully,...
