Re: The dream thread

I was at a shrine/college-like-place with a character from my novel named Solaith, who is from a race that are vampire-like and disliked by the other peoples in his world. He was nervous because he had to hide his fangs there so he couldn't talk much. There was a zombie outbreak or something, and th...

Re: The Official ZBB Quote Thread

This whole dream just needs to be quoted from the dream thread: I had this horrible dream where I dreamt some people (like a gang) firebombed my old (town)house in Toronto and all that was left was the top floor, and so many people were standing around gawking but I couldn't get anyone to store some...

I believe the OP said, in the first post, that the trees GROW IN THE FUCKING OCEAN. But ya know, I could be wrong.

Re: ZBB member photos, part 5.

But, aside from the first line, those actions would be immoral for multiple reasons from my point of view, and if you had actually read my post you should be able to understand why. Edit: Actually, you thinking that it's "Utilitarianism" might be the flaw between what I mean and what you think I mean.

Re: ZBB member photos, part 5.

it is not a choice between eating animals or letting other things eat them/starving them to death. you just stop making as many and the problem with "leaving them to die" if you don't eat them is solved and so you have one less argument against veganism. This would be a fine middle step, from meat-...

Re: ZBB member photos, part 5.

If the only food around was vegan, I'd rather be unhappy than dead. Some think it's worse to "use" animals, I think it would be worse to leave them to die now that they rely on us. Your argument, then, if it is indeed a utilitarian one, would seem to rely on the fact that life, animal life specific...

*Now* apparently you assure me that I snipped out an inconvenient argument you made in which, if I take your last post as a rebuke pointing out something I apparently ignored, used *rights*. Where? You may be implicitly using the idea, but the closest you get to actually *making* an deontological a...

Re: ZBB member photos, part 5.

What do you think it means, and what is the effect of that on the tone of my post? Hint: Should we argue from nature in the first place? This is your homework for tonight. Your argument against veganism is fallacious, yes. Very clever? Arguing whether to eat a specific thing is natural or not at al...

Re: ZBB member photos, part 5.

See, this is why I can't be vegan: If we're going by "natural", eating meat IS natural and done by many species, including our closest animal cousins, so it in itself is not unethical from that point of view. Remarkable! If you consider something from an amoral perspective, it is not immoral! Congr...

Thanks, V. Shark. And yes, Southern California. I'm living with my parents currently, and I go to school in town. And I know my dad's schedule for work from week to week, and mom's is the same every week, so I don't see how remembering my schedule at least on a basic level is so hard. But maybe I ha...

Hey, why would you bother remembering something like that? :| It wasn't any bother; otherwise I'd probably have forgotten. Why, why do you think it would be hard to remember? As an example of why we would expect you to forget something like that, my parents don't remember my school schedule. The on...

How can they but untranslatable when they just told everyone what they are?.... In English..... I think what they meant was you can't capture the whole meaning in one word in English. So if you translate to the nearest equivalent, you lose a lot of the meaning. But if you try to translate the meani...
