Xurnese writing

I'm looking over the Xurnese page, and some questions come to mind about the writing system. It's mentioned that Axunašin used 770 logograms in addition to the syllabary. Does Xurnese also use all of these logograms? I'd really like to try writing in Xurnese, but the logogram thing and the conservat...

I'm so glad that right before I started thinking "Hmm, I haven't wasted hours browsing through Virtual Verdúria in a while," the Xurnese grammar gets put up. This is great.

Fuck Richard Dawkins. If he's got nothing better to do than run around being arrogant about atheism and criticizing people for not being atheists just like him, then he's not worth my time or respect.

Well they are acting like him. I was being truthful. I wasn't insulting or teasing him. Although if I was doing so I would have a right to do so because he's done it numerous times to me. People aren't insulting you. They're just bothered that a discussion about Verdurian fonts has been cluttered w...

Here's the entire code table I get for the Unicode Verdurian font:

Just turning the diacritics into zero-width characters is probably the most practical/compatible fix.

No I'm not. If any one is gullible it would be you for believing that I'm gullible when I'm not. You don't know me so you can't say what I am and what I'm not. You apparently have trouble detecting sarcasm. That = gullible. I doubt people will be taking directions from you as to what they can and c...

Now that is just scary....... Someone's gullible. Make sure it also does this with option and control, and with combinations of those. Good call; I'll do that. The diacritics need to me made zero-width characters that will hang over the previous letter. Since the original font is designed so that e...

If I remember right, we've had 10 year-olds on here before, and they managed to handle themselves maturely. I don't mean to bitch, but seriously, what the fuck?

The method of having separate Unicode letters for all the Verdurian letters instead of making a different Verdurian font which changes the correct Latin letters to Verdurian seems like a Rube Goldberg to me, IMHO. I get that, but it is nice to have both available, partly for webpages and partly for...

I just finished putting together a Verdurian keyboard layout that uses bi's Unicode font. It's available here . To use it, unstuff the archive and drop the two files into /Library/Keyboard Layouts. The .keylayout file is the actual layout, and the .icns file is an icon that should make a Verdurian f...

OK, I found the problem: after digging through Character Palette, I found the letters, but Font Book just didn't pick them up. A Macintosh keyboard layout will be forthcoming, for those interested.

I finally got the file, but I'm having the same problems I had with the old font: Mac OS 10.4.8 recognizes it as a font file and lets me install it, but all the characters show up blank in Font Book.

Here 's the font I got from verdurian.ttf after remapping the Verdurian digits and a few other characters. If it works, the following should display the numeral 123,657 just like on the zompist.com front page: Thanks! Unfortunately, I get this message when I go to the page: "All download slots assi...

On a related note, I still can't get Mac OS X to make sense of the Almean fonts (besides Maraille).

Come to West Virginia. Here, some dialects have three distincions: you (singular), y'all (small group), and all y'all (large group/everyone within earshot). You're from West Virginia? What part? I have connections there, but they're mostly in you'uns or standard usage territory, and take as much fr...

Yea, I think the problem is that Mac OS X expects everything to be Unicode. Maraille.bin didn't work either, so I guess re-encoding would be the only option. I have no idea how to do that, so if anyone wants to do it for me, point me to some directions, or has already done it themselves, that would ...

I actually ended up just giving up on Verdurian script in Mac OS X. The reason why I asked the question originally is because Mac OS X is supposed to read Windows TrueType fonts without problems, and it does, except for the Almean fonts. I just remembered that I have a Mac OS 9 utility that converts...
