Re: The Lexicon Building Counselling Service
I have a similar problem with the word "Wraith" in Fengwë, although each one means something a little different, they could all be candidates for the word. "ðoët" [ðɔ.et] - evil + fear (also dread), "ðogast" [ðɔ.gʰɑst] - evil + shadow (also evil spirit, not that "vengast" (dead + shadow) means ghost...

Re: Kinterms In Your Conlangs (And Natlangs)
Having sat in on a class a few weeks ago at UBama about kinship systems, I'm tempted to give my IE-like Northern family a bit of flavor by adding in a Crow-Omaha system. Crow and Omaha both? Re: Invent an Idiom
Next up: (I hope this hasn't been done yet) To feel being treated unfairly. Fengwë: Peyisosë mën fengrufol! - "I received two winters" - This one is pretty straight forward. The Vendri live in a very cold biome, and when they feel hard done by, they complain that it is like having two winters in a ...

Vowel Features for [a]?
Greetings, I am currently doing Intro to Linguistics at University of Newcastle, NSW, Australia, and I have a problem with one of my questions. The question asks us to find complementary distribution between two consonants, and then to write a rule that describes the sounds as allophones. Anyway, I ...
