I think, out of the different websites I've posted this picture on, you're at least the third person to make this joke. :P

Re: ZBB member photos, part 5. (Something for the weekend, s

nah mate the board used to prune everything, so the earliest stuff we have is 2010. why didn't you keep the pic? I didn't know I'd be looking for it over 7 and a half years later! And I lost a lot of files when my hard drive broke, which must have been around 2012 - I suspect it was on that. It's n...

Re: ZBB member photos, part 5. (Something for the weekend, s

Hi, old user dropping in. Do any of the previous ZBB member photos threads still exist in any form? I was hoping to find an old picture of me that I'm certain I posted here - it would have been around June/July 2008.

Re: The dream thread

A couple of nights ago, I had a dream that started out with me going to uni (note: in real life, I left uni over a year ago), and I was accompanied by May from Pokémon, who was apparently as old as me and had always walked to uni with me. Then, when I got to uni, I realised that May wasn't with me, ...

Wait... you could freely switch them? Why did you even do it in the first place?

I've just found out about the Latin word sopio: a caricature of a man with a large penis, like in graffiti. It's something we see in everyday life but have no name for!

Re: The dream thread

A couple of nights ago, I had a dream where I was on my way to uni, when I encountered two girls (one of which actually went to my old school, the other was an unidentified girl I seemed to know in my dream). They were asking why they couldn't get into a nearby school (that doesn't really exist - it...

Re: The dream thread

Anybody else keep a dream diary by their bed? I've been keeping one for years now. I keep thinking of doing something with it, like writing things based on my dreams, but I've never got around to it. ---- At one point in my dream last night, I was in a cross between a bedroom and a changing room, a...

Re: The dream thread

I was at a bookshop, and decided to buy a book called "Gilbert & Sullivan" (for some reason, in my dream, I thought those were the names of the main characters of The X-Files ). When I started reading it, I realised large parts of it were the same as a Doctor Who book I'd read, and confirmed that th...

Re: The dream thread

Last night's dream followed one of the usual patterns I get - I'm in school, I've made a mistake and desperately need to correct it, but I'm finding it impossible to work out which way to go because the school is so maze-like - but the part of the dream I think is most notable is that, while trying ...

Wow, I was thinking of contributing to this thread, but judging by the transcriptions here I can't go into anywhere near the expected level of detail... I guess I'll record my voice when I get the chance and just let anyone who's interested "analyse" it... Hey, don't be put off. Just give a phonemi...

Re: The dream thread

There was a lot in my last dream, but the most notable points were my friend realising he had six fingers on his left hand, me realising my left glove also had six fingers, and a really dumb guy not understanding that the "make up" part of the phrase "kiss and make up" didn't refer to cosmetics.

Re: The dream thread

So, at the start of this dream, I apparently had a "Best of Father Ted " DVD set. I was thinking about the fact that, if I had waited, I could've got a set containing every episode - apparently, that set was only released when the creator of the show (who was apparently Japanese) kept being asked wh...

Re: Multi-Person Possession in English

Something like "the car that's mine and my sister's" sounds okay, or you could avoid the possessive altogether with "the car my sister and I have" (or "the car me and my sister have", but that's a different argument altogether).

Re: Answering negated polar questions in English

A similar problem came up today for me, when a girl was clearly thinking about what she generally meant rather than what words she was saying. She picked up the chair next to me, and gestured as if to ask whether she could take it or not. However, what she said was "Is anyone sitting here?" - I repl...

(Note to others: the OP is clearly talking about /phonemes/ here, despite the egregious misuse of [brackets].) Ah, now I understand why the responses were confusing me... I had misrembered the rules on that stuff. (But "gonna" almost sounds like ["gAn@].) I thought that's how Americans pronounced i...

Blow-blue merger?

Are there any accents of the English language pronounce [oU] as [u:], so that "blow" sounds like "blue"? Or does it restricted to certain words of some accents? I'm wondering because it seems to be happening at parts of this song by They Might Be Giants (lyrics here ) - it's noticeable in the word "...
