Re: Possible additions to Secret Dictionary of Verdurian

I appreciate the interest, but I'm afraid new words are fairly low on the priority list. Right now, for instance, I'm making a book on Cuzei to supplement Babblers, so the focus is on Cuezi. It might be different if people were trying to use Verdurian and running into the vocabulary gaps-- but this...

Re: Zompist books feedback

The "Sophomore List" from LCK duplicates the words "breast", "bird" and "fish" from the Swadesh List.

Hassle someone? Naah, I just thought it was a good way to talk with other people about it. Incite up some conversation...not just with Zompist, but with everyone.

Re: Possible additions to Secret Dictionary of Verdurian

On Monday, January 21, 2013: Zompist, are you going to update the Secret Dictionary of Verdurian anytime soon? Well, it's been one year now. A good time to dust off the list and possibly the "numbers in 5,020 languages" page. http://zompist.wordpress.com/2013/01/20/parents-update/ Man's got a lot g...

Re: Possible additions to Secret Dictionary of Verdurian

I just had an idea today: How about a section of your Secret Dictionary of Verdurian for animal and plant species without an Almean equivalent? You already have "monkey" and "tomato" in your foods section; you could also add "pomegranate", "orchid" and similar Terran plant names; or, since Verduria ...

Oh no, how terrible. :( Reading that made me sick to my stomach. I feel ill now after reading this. I can only imagine how much worse Mark must be feeling. BTW, I also read his January 17 entry. I'm glad he was able to spend some time with his parents. I'm going to start buying Mark Rosenfelder books.

Numbers in 4,000 languages -- conlangs

Is Zompist ever going to add more conlangs to his page of numbers 1-10? Or has he abandoned the endeavour of listing them all?

I got the Landau Core Vocabulary quite a while ago. It's not online, but I suppose you could ask Khemehekis for it if you really wanted it. He's registered here, but a search for his posts returns no hits; I guess he hasn't posted in a while. An earlier version is found here . Only 2,000 words? I'l...

Allophones

Share some of the allophone groups in the natlangs of the world. When someone creating a conlang wants to decide what allophones they're going to have, they can turn to this thread for inspiration.

I have a proposal for Akana. I would like to place my proto-language Bwenkhir somewhere into the Akana world in its earliest stages and have it develop daughter languages. Neek, you have some great ideas. We'll probably just use the Swedish cognate of "yogurt" for "yogurt".

Zompist, are you planning to update the vocabulary any time soon?
