Re: Learning to Gloss

You could also leave out ART and just use DEF and INDF, esp. if that category is only marked in the article. However, if say you have adjectives (for example) that agree in definiteness, then it's possible you'd have cases where you'd want to retain ART. I prefer leaving out ART, myself. I think it...

Re: Learning to Gloss

Okay, so if I were saying

the cat
ART.DEF cat

would be enough, but would need

the cats
ART.DEF cat-PL

?

(I left the DEF because "a" would be an ART.INDF , correct?)

Learning to Gloss

Hello there. I'm learning the rules of interlinear glossing (Leipzip rules) and would love some assistance where possible. I'm also sure there are others on this board (from my searches for a thread like this) that would love to follow along and get some assistance also. So I guess first things firs...

My old 'lang was based on bird sounds. Different pitches, lengths and quality.
However it was human-ized for sake of building and read/writing. -shrug-

So I used my phone (an object that fits my hand in the manner ascribed by your picture) to test some of these theories of not being able to press some without pressing others. I am entirely capable of pressing a button with my thumb without pressing one on the other side with any of my fingers. I do...

Re: Chinese whispers / retrofitting game

You should just design your own keyboard layout. I'm surprised that not more people have done this, and also at the fact that there seems to be no widely-used IPA-capable layout. I basically had to do this because I learnt to touch-type with the Dvorak layout and there's no equivalent of the US-ext...

Re: Chinese whispers / retrofitting game

If I were more courageous, I'd switch the capitalization, but I can't find a program to do it for me, and I don't want to find all those accent alt codes... Pretty sure MS Word does that, up in the formatting ribbon. Accents are easy to do without alt codes, you just add the English international k...

One, they'll overestimate and think I'm out to create the next Esperanto or something, when in reality I have no sociopolitical ambitions and Bengedian is simply a pet project, a hobby. Or two, they'll underestimate and think it's just a cipher of English or a word game like Pig Latin. I really wis...

This is a pretty awesome program you've got going here. It took a while to learn how to do everything right, but I got it~

My only problem is this, I can't get it to import a .txt file with a list of words. I may have missed where you explained how, or maybe I was wrong in thinking it could do this?

English is very poor in pronouns. "I, you, he, she, it, we, you, they"... There should be a plural "you". Well, as 'you' was originally the plural, and 'thou' the dropped singular, I believe it would be better to look for a singular you, don't you think? Though of course, you probably already know ...
