Re: The Great Proto-Indo-European Thread
So, uh, I hope this is the right thread for my question/idea. I just don't want to open a new thread for my quick question and it's quite related anyway. I read this entire thread a while back and I don't think my idea has been discussed before. So, I was browsing a Hittite etymological dictionary (...

Re: Should I make the lexicon or grammar first?
I can only agree with the posts above and would like to add that, given that you derive your conlang from a protolang, also sound changes go hand in hand with grammar and lexicon. However, it's still possible to toy around with first random words, ideas, prototypes in the form of word roots without ...

Both variants look quite appealing. I think I will choose a mix of those two romanizations. Thanks for the effort.

I could need some help with Romanization of my currrent project. Re: Post your conlang's phonology
I'm proud to finally have a first more or less stable phonology for my PIE based conlang, currently named East Nisha . In terms of phonology and morphology it comes close to Anatolian languages, does not exhibit any fancy, unique features so that it is quite easy to recognize it as an IE lang. Conso...

Re: Post your conlang's phonology
Here's a very early sketch of the phonology of my Eastern Nisha language, which is, in contrast to Western Nisha, a direct descendant of PIE. It's currently in early development stage and still needs lot of work. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated, since I'm not quite sure whether such a phon...

Re: Longest Word In Your Conlang
While Nisha is quite agglutinative, it doesn't really possess long words, the longest verb is "ta'abul- " (to work) and with all possible prefixes, infixes and suffixes attached, there would be something like this: yanyuwata'abuliya 1PS.NEG.FUT.root.PRES (I won't work) -iy- represents the present te...

What leads from ZERO to /ħ/? Is /autem/ to /ħad/ plausible?
And also, which was highly disputed: How can CVn clustrers turn into CʲV? Like, /cant-are/ into /kyat-/?

Re: Romanization challenge thread
Sorry for the delay as I have plenty stuff to do. Nisha historically had many consonant clusters just as Latin had, since it is basically a rip-off. Since the beginning of development many consonant clusters disappeared by inserting vowels and in the latest and current stage palatalization set in in...

Re: Romanization challenge thread
@mezziah: What's the distribution of the palatalized consonants? Are they more common than non-palatalized consonants before front vowels but less common elsewhere, to use a fairly common pattern? Do they contrast with sequences of a consonant and /j/? Also, I'm kind of curious about something. Con...

Re: Romanization challenge thread
I could need a new romanization for my conlang, somehow I begin to dislike the usage of trigraphs for some consonants. My own script, based on Proto-Semitic alphabet, heavily remodelled to look a bit like Japanese Hiragana and also a syllabic script, is on the way and close to finalization and costs...
