My copy arrived on Monday and I started reading it straight away. I had real problems with the "Sounds" section, until I realised that Zompist was assuming that English-speaking reades have an American accent.

Apart from that, though, I love it! :D

Well, I did choose the cheapest option. The fastest ("Priority International Courier") would have taken 2-4 working days ... and upped the price by € 24.20 !!! :x

zompist wrote:Has anyone ordered the book through amazon.com from Europe?
I did today. It cost me € 17.43 (€ 11.37 for the book and € 6.06 for shipping).

I hope it's worth it! Amazon told me it would arrive between April 15, 2010 and May 5, 2010, so I'll have to be patient.

Can't wait!

Is there going to be some complete documentation at some point?

It's just rather tiring to search this thread for the appropriate bit of information (though I do understand that it's probably even more tiring for you to write a complete documentation).

It allows you to specify two different orders for the phonemes. "Parsing order" is the order than the parser will consider them in when trying to decode your orthography, which basically means that you should put your digraphs first if they could also be parsed as two separate phonemes. "Alphabetic...

I haven't been following this forum, so I don't know if someone has already mentioned this. Please be patient with me. What is the "alphabetic/parsing order"-function for? Also, I seem to have Daquarious P. McFizzle's problem: the program won't accept a load of IPA characters: ɸ, ʃ, ɹ, ʋ, ʉ, ʌ, and ...

Why do newbies think the English is "normal" and everything else is "weird and freaky"?
And what would you call yourself, may I ask?

I'm probably going to get a lot of boos for for this, but I don't like the cover. I think the picture should have at least something to do with languages. Oh, I understand the logic: it's the Language Construction Kit. It's a machine . You put in a few ideas at one end, and out pops a ready-made lan...

First he makes the LCK and starts a conlang community. Then he gives out the LCK in book form with four times more material and makes us all want to buy it. Zomp, you're almost a cult leader by definition. :P You wouldn't be so kind to let us members have a little discount? Every follower of...

Will this be available through local flavours of Amazon? That's right! I'm definitely going to buy it, even from the US if need be. But it would be great if I could order it from Amazon.co.uk or even Amazon.de. Who's writing the World Construction Kit? Also Zompist? Or is it based on Bricka's work?...
