Re: The dream thread

I decided to go to the UK for my spring break, and I landed there rather painlessly and found myself in Swansea. However, the day before I was scheduled to return to the US, Katla erupted... and the amount of ash was not going to allow much of anything to take off from most of Europe for about, oh, ...

Migration Cards... of sorts

As an exercise in translation, here are some small things I've been working on: http://i51.tinypic.com/i5b12u.jpg Front of Telemor Arrival Card for foreigners http://i56.tinypic.com/69l7c0.jpg Back of Telemor Arrival Card for foreigners http://i55.tinypic.com/ubrq.jpg Ilian Migration Card (not surpr...

Looking at you, not Armenia. Probably the Balkans, to be quite honest.

Not bad at all, Torco. I do say that I think you look better with beard, but that's because I'm completely biased and happy to admit my bias.

Yiuel looks very stately and slightly politician-like (you know, like in the advertisements). I like.

Dewrad: Everyone thinks they look older than they actually do. My lady friend complains about feeling old and she's not even twenty yet. I'm also trying to apply Welsh stereotypes to you and failing. I don't think I look older than my age (20), but I felt a lot older when I didn't get asked for ID ...

All Things Monetary

No, it's a member of these fora, although I forget just who it is. Vampireshark solicited pictures for possible use on banknotes a while back. The other one, incidentally, features a picture of me. It's Christoph Schrader's picture, not surprisingly. And, speaking of pics, if anyone would care to c...

Dragon! I love dragons. And Yiuel's picture of one is most awesome. Though isn't that his "signature" for drawings? Oh, out of sheer boredom, I made obverses for two of the three Ilian banknotes. http://i26.tinypic.com/23uvrk6.jpg YJD 25, approximately USD 1.20 http://i31.tinypic.com/2lifn6s.jpg YJD...

Yeah, it is. And it's also a much larger caliber than what I normally fire, a .22 pistol and .22 rifle.

Telèmor is, I think, a nice example of a conlang created for a certain style or aesthetic rather than worrying over realism. Also, I'm on a banknote! This makes me feel happy inside Yeah, that's part of the point of the language... it's a Romance language that pulls from a lot, and it's not meant t...

Does Telèmor speak a romlang? Most likely. Telèmor is a non-diachronic romlang with some Japanese, Germanic, and Slavic vocabulary and influences. I don't have the patience for sound changes and diachronics, and I don't know enough of any of the other Romance languages to viably know what's possibl...

Yiuel looks most awesome and very stately in said picture.

And maybe constructing a Telèmor flag would be cool... probably expensive as well. But, hey, sorta worth it. I do wish I knew how to sew.

It's a myth because of the appearance. If your hair's really, really short, it'll appear to grow faster than if it were longer, despite the fact that hair tends to grow at about the same rate. And I sport a moustache and goatee, but it's rather... pathetic, to say the least. But I'm not shaving any ...

Now, silent letters, on the other hand, looks good. I sorta wish I could grow that type of beard... but, alas, my years are few in number, so hope still remains.

And Kostalan Rottsaa looks sorta like I did before I got a haircut... well, except he's probably quite a bit taller.

Leather Monster...

I would love to know why more artists don't pull off performances like this. Truly a masterpiece.
