Kiakui scratchpad
I will not tell you anything about this conlang. I will jsut leave a recording here and let you make hypotheses about my langauge because I want to know what impression people get who have absolutely no idea what Kiakui is or how it works :) https://vocaroo.com/i/s1wSsPRFHGF7 Make educated guesses a...

OK people, here is my phonology... help me to create an orthography... 6 Tones: 1. ma (high: 5, as in Mandarin Chinese "mā") 2. ma (low-falling: 3-1, as in Vietnamese "làm") 3. ma (high-falling 5-1, as in Mandarin Chinese "mà") 4. ma (high-falling-rising 4-2-4, similar to Southern Vietnamese "bả") 5...

Tense and Aspect in Miwonša
Dear fellow conlangers, recently I reworked my tense and aspect system and I would like to know your opinions about whether the system which I am going to present in this thread would be plausible with regard to the tense and aspect systems in languages. Furthermore I would like to ask you to check ...

Re: How to design a non-European grammar
Miwonša 5p: - postnominal relative clauses with inflected relative pronouns (e.g. English "who" vs. "whose") - a periphrastic perfect formed with 'have' plus a passive participle (e.g. English "I have said") - a preponderance of generalizing predicates to encode experiencers, i.e. experiencers appea...

Re: Another triconsonantal conlang
Hey people, thank you very much for the link. I've just read what Hallow wrote about the types of feedback in this forum. For this reason I've come to the conclusion that I should have explained why I am trying to create a conlang about which even I say that it is not very naturalistic and not very ...

Re: Another triconsonantal conlang
But what You confuse me. I shall take my leave OK again, DePaw asked me why I have <š> instead of <z> and then I wrote him that I do not want to have a voicing contrast in my root system, since I would get mixed clusters with voiceless and voiced consonants, which are not only a little difficult to...

Re: Another triconsonantal conlang
Very simple reason: When there are consonant sequences like [bt] or [zk], it's very likely that people would either voice or devoice all consonants and then there would be many homophones.. Edit: On the other hand, instead of avoiding voicing contrasts, it would also be possible to use only use stop...

Re: Another triconsonantal conlang
It's not that easy Rhetorica, some sounds are so similar that speakers could confuse the roots, therefore not all possible combination should be used.

Re: Another triconsonantal conlang
I mean sort of - but we also don't need to applaud everybody's efforts at doing an overdone thing that every single noob has at some point tried to do. It's fine to experiment obviously, but publishing it on the forum for all to see when you know it is nothing more than a slightly silly thought exp...

Re: Another triconsonantal conlang
I see your point, but I honestly disapprove of your initial reaction. Conlanging is a hobby which requires a lot of creativity and innovation and this means that sometimes you just have to be allowed to experiment with things that are completely absent in the languages you know well, because every f...

I don't see the problem, really. I think it's an interesting concept and I wanted to share this idea with you, as I can't imagine a more efficient way to have both subject and object agreement in a language which is not fusional. I apologize for causing allergic reactions, but I really do not unders...

OK people, this time I need your help... With this limited number of available phonemes for tri-consonantal roots I can only form about 30 verbs. This is going to be an experimental conlang and not designed to be naturalistic...
