Re: How unbalanced is your lexicon?

I have basically the same problem; I take a root, or a handful of roots, and run with them, which is probably why I have words for "ceremonial sword handler" and "a lesson that is mostly from a book", yet somehow lack "window" "happy" and other fairly basic things.

Perhaps you could add some variation in the paws and eyes. Maybe make some paws fatter and shorter, and some eyes bigger or rounder or etc.

Re: Names in Culture

I have one conculture with really ridiculous naming practices, so here's the simple one first; Habaan names mostly reflect stature in society. All members of the true royal family have a one-word name. Examples: King Maaan "large piece of gold", queen Huai "willow branch", and princess Laua "clear s...

Re: What is with the dislike for digraphs when romanizing?

I use whichever works with the "feel" of a language, which is of course very subjective and probably not a good thing to go by.

Also, ease of typing, and whether or not there are enough diacritics in the first place to cover what I need covered.

Re: The rarity of modern-day conworlds confuses me.

I've never really felt like making a modern-day conworld because I never much liked imagining the naturalistic nitpicking it seemed like it would invite, with such a current standard to hold it to. I'm making one with slight magic now, so that is obviously not something I care/worry about anymore. I...

Re: Conlangs With Non Human Phonology

I'm fumbling with a sign-language made by creatures with six arms supplemented by a sort of Morse, as they also have six eyes. There's also something with teeth gnashing and clinking together, as they have many strong teeth but relatively poor hearing. A little deep growling, some whistling/squeakin...
