Re: ZBB member photos, part 5. (camel toes.)
You look like you jumped out of a children's storybook. In that case, I like your taste in books as a child! I also noticed this at the time that photo was taken, and decided to pose for another, um, different kind of storybook: http://a2.sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-snc7/304460_905183420245_223...

Re: Geordie "gan" - English "go"
Isnt the -n part of the infinitive? Retention of that would be highly unusual, deletion would be normal. the weird thing here is not that -n disappeared in 'go' but that it was mysteriously retained in 'gan' and reinterpreted as part of the stem rather than an infinitive marker. So, do you mean tha...

Geordie "gan" - English "go"
The dialect of the north-east of England, known as the Geordie dialect, probably has as its most famous feature the word 'gan' for 'go'. As in, "Gannin alang the Scotswood Road" (going along the Scotswood Road), "I telt him where to gan" (I told him where to go). I've been told that this, along with...

Re: Khuzdul: expansion using Biblical Hebrew & Classical Ara
Tolkien's Dwarves have some cultural features that parallel the Jewish people They live underground? Srsly though, what are these features? C'mon man, they have beards, live in insular communities and speak of nothing but their return from exile. Not only are they Jews, they're Chassidim! (and they...

No. Use stronger colours (#FFD700 and #008000 for example). To me as a colorblind your design above looks like off-green and green. Or orange and off-orange. The intention of flags and courts of arms is that you can see from far away who is approaching you e.g. on the battlefield or in a tournament...

Here's the flag of my as-yet-embrionic concountry/nation/people: http://i931.photobucket.com/albums/ad152/Joe1729/ScriptishFlag-1.jpg Yes, I made it on MS Paint. The black motif is the character for "man; human being; member of this nation (etc)". It is green on the inside and gold on the outside to...

So, I have a question. Since I have a flag, I of course want to fly it, however my parents are bound to ask 'what flag is that'? What do I tell them? Do I lie? What do I do? Tell them it's the flag of a small European country called Falgwia, a country that you're particularly interested in, and hav...

ROBOZZLE. Totally the most addictive and intriguing geekgame ever invented.
Also, this advert for TG4 (Irish TV station) has got to be one of the cleverest TV ads ever made.

Well, here's a flag I designed yesterday, just for the sake of making a cool design. Purely æsthetic. But I could always make up symbolism for it, no? http://i931.photobucket.com/albums/ad152/Joe1729/Awesomeflag.jpg I reckon the red could be an important letter (like a Z with a diagonal line through...

It's not hard to draw. I mean, if it were, people would start complaining about the Israeli flag (which is rather pleasing aesthetically) because of the Star of David. Disagree! If I was drawing both these flags -- Israeli and Velkas' -- freehand, I would find the Israeli flag much easier, because ...

Semaphor telegraphy had the bad luck to be invented not that much before electric telegraphy was, but it'd be cool to see a scenario where telegraphy has been in existence for centuries. Terry Pratchett does this in his later Discworld novels (an especially big deal of it is made in "Going Postal")...

The ONLY thing in the entire WORLD that actually requires a fork to be eaten properly is spaghetti. Everything else can be easily eaten with fingers, spoon, knife or chopsticks. I used to have long hair. Here is what I looked like: http://sphotos.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash1/hs291.ash1/21861_3123804...

Hmm, I don't know if you'd call it a dialect, but my accent (I'm from London) can vary a lot, depending on who I'm talking to. It can be anywhere from almost Cockney/London-chavvish to almost R.P. , though it never actually reaches either extreme. I'm usually a bit nearer to RP, though (especially w...
