Ereláean mathematical notation
Have you had any more thoughts on this? The symbols for numbers and basic operations are well documented on the alphabet page. The Almeopedia article on Äron Noscerey adds a few details: 1/pi is called orondei (presumably the genitive of ‘diameter’), variables names can be composed of multiple lette...

Billar vs biliar?
Also, it's always [ljana] here in northern Mexico, never [li.ana]. Of course, we have no /ʎ/ phoneme.

Re: Unisex names
All this stuff about surnames becoming unisex names in English is interesting, and also logical since most surnames don't carry very clear implications of gender. It's also interesting that all those surnames ending in -son tend not to become recycled as unisex names (unlike surnames beginning in M...

Re: What tools do you use for conlanging?
I used to use the SIL dictionary program (I forget its name ...) for my main languages... I agree. Lexique Pro is an excellent program. (it would be nice if someone knew the competition, though. Are there any other programs like this?) There's faiuwle's ConlangDictionary, but that has been updated ...

Wait, does shirabi mean "to be happy" or "to love platonically"? Does it depend on the particle the subject takes, or are they homophones, or something else?

This language is absolutely beautiful! Do you have a lexicon for it, or any more material not on the ZBB/CBB? Also, do you mind if I use it for some role play I'm doing?
I'm specifically interested in "to have", "to need", "to use", and how to form different moods (potential, hortative, etc.)

θ > tθ seems pretty weird to me. I disagree; from a theoretical perspective it's pretty unremarkable. It is a "weird" change in that it isn't well-attested in real life, but I think that's just because dental fricatives are relatively rare to begin with. Outside of that limitation, it's just basic ...

Is this particular change affecting glottalised vowels plausible? How about "too dim to see"? I know it's an unrelated type of construct, but I think this is the best place to ask.

Something Utian? I mean, the <ṭ> is probably retroflex and there are no voiced obstruents.

1. pt kt > tʷ tʲ > tsʷ tɕ > tʂ tɕ
2. Cj Cw > Cç Cxʷ > Cx > Ch
3. I don't think this sound change is realistic, but you could have diphthong metathesis on a case-by-case basis, that is, a different path for each diphthong.

Morpheme boundaries, still. I think Finnish might have that distinction in vowels, when /k/ gradates to something written with an apostrophe -- I've heard that's a glottal stop, but aren't there some dialects that drop it? What about Japanese? That's what I meant. English has it as a marginal disti...

English could count for this, at least marginally on a morphemic level: basket vs. glass kit, distress vs. this tree.t(`_`t) wrote:Are there any natlangs where syllabification is unpredictable -- so /as.ta/ could contrast with /a.sta/ or /ast.a/, or /as.a/ with /a.sa/?
