La ti nimyeke. 1SG 3SG.F love-PV I loved/had loved/had loved her. Paletian does screwy stuff with aspects, so that in this case this is unambiguously past and perfective, but if we switch to negative we have to use the irrealis "aspect" and the verb could litterally be in any time and aspect and we...

I've been dealing with the same thing for Niljavo. I think it is, but one might expect differences if you have multiple plosive series.Click wrote:Is unconditional PN → ⁿP plausible?
P and N is shorthand for plosive and nasal, and ⁿ is prenasalisation.

Re: MS Access Lexicon?
Your post gave me an idea: storing the lexicon as a plain text file using markdown syntax, and using the text editor's regular expression search function for searching and to generate specific lists (eg all verbs), which could then be converted to pdf quickly (eg by pandoc). I'll confess to not ent...

Re: Where are the African conlangs?
I was working on a language a long time ago that was pretty much just Luganda with different words and a slightly different phonology. Other than that, I probably don't have much stereotypical "African-ness" in my conlangs.

Re: MS Access Lexicon?
I use html for my lexicon because I feel like it gives the nicest results, is easy to make pdfs from, and is easy to search. The major drawback is that it takes a lot of typing just to add one entry, even when I define my own tags for stuff. I'm not actually sure if I recommend it, but it works for ...

To be a bit more uplifting than Hallow, I would say that you don't necessarily need to give up on making a naturalistic non-concatenative language, but you should save it until you've had more experience with diachronics. It took me years of conlanging to understand language evolution well enough to...

I was thinking of an epenthesis where every consonant is followed by a vowel but certain vowels are ellided and then the sequences [Vw Vj Vh] become [u i ɑ] (except when adjacent to other /w j h/) and other remaining vowels become [ɛ]: wywh > wVyVwVhV > wVywVh > wiwɑ but twwnt > tVwVwVnVtV > twVwnt ...

Thai/Lao doesn't allow open syllables with short nuclei and adds a glottal stop.
