Re: Post your conlang's phonology

I'm toying around with a large inventory that is informed a bit by Australian Aboriginal languages mixed with Icelandic (sans the rounded front vowels), Kunjen is a pretty good approximation for the sound system I'm shooting for. Some touches of Laghuu too (save for any fricatives). The vowel system...

Re: Conlangs With Non Human Phonology

Holy shit that's fantastic. I'm still reading through but that's fucking awesome. And I won't stop swearing about it until I hear someone program a goddamn vocoder program or sound software to make those sounds real.

Also, perhaps a bit over the top but yeah... that's fantastically thought out.

Also you can get enough complete dishevelment of everything by simply taking fantasy and actually carrying it to its conclusions (namely, with magic available it's very likely that technology would evolve much faster than social structures would for a variety of reasons). The nature of the magic in...

Re: The rarity of modern-day conworlds confuses me.

I think it may just be daunting to look at all there is to reinvent in your conworld. Since the pace of technology has increased drastically since the era in which most Conworlders emulate it may just be easier to stick with some pre-Industrial or Industrial era. What seems interesting I think is ha...

1. Absence of any phonemic POA for stops further back than velar 2. Phonemic voicing 3. Two and only two parallel series of phonemes at each POA at which at least one stop is present (glottal, if present, excluded from the series) (a series still counts if it is missing only one phoneme from the ex...
