Another small correction: in the spirituality section towards the end, you state "there are several orders of monastic monks" when I think you mean warrior monks
Overall a great read, definitely gave me a lot to think about for my own conreligions

Anything more about the Southern Family?
Now that the connection's been noticed and found, is there any chance we could get a sketch of Proto-Southern, even if it's not as fleshed out as the one for Proto-Eastern?

Re: Poll: Favourite Almean languages
I've always liked Old Skourene, the triconsonantal roots are fun (but who doesn't love those?), but the sound, feel and look of the language is just divine. I'd name a kid in Old Skourene if they wouldn't get bullied for it. Xurnese is also great, it looks so intimidating on the front of it but isn'...

What happened to Martino?
Queen Andrea is listed in the almeopedia as having a brother Martino, there's no mention of his death in the Almeopedia, but when Andrea disappears, there's no mention of his possibly being king, even though Ihano is even brought up as an option again.
What happened to him in the intervening years?

Triconstanantal Root Language Families
Does anyone have any good sources on tri-constanantal root language families? The concept of such a language is rather cool, but I'm rather confused by how they would be affected by sound changes and how a plausible language family would look. I understand that I can do something like look at hebrew...

Online Historical Atlas of Erelae
The online version of the historical atlas doesn't seem to be working anymore. I know it's been released in print, so it might be intentional, but then.... why have the link there? It's also possible it's just my computer.

Learning a language with a different writing system
Hello all, I'm attempting to learn a language with a different writing system (Arabic, actually) but I'm having a little difficulty reading the script. I feel like it takes me forever to read one word even after a good amount of practice (maybe it's just because I'm such a fast reader in English and...

I don't care for either moon or planet in particular, but I do like Yucopia as a worldname. Or else we should each name it in one of our langs and vote on the best (no voting for your own)

yeah, I've been having a love affair with swahili for a while now. The grammar is even a bit more obvious.Cockroach wrote:Also, Azdusha, am I correct in thinking that you drew some inspiration for the Lahedu language from Bantu?

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
So I've gotten some quick ethnographic, linguistic and religious-ic sketches started and something like finished. The ethnography is on the site, the others will follow after some polishing. Is it alright if my people start with some domestication underway or are we starting at the most basic proto-...

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
Hmm.. I need to update that map... planet_loc.png Haven't seen Christopher Schröder, Wierdmin, valiums, or Azdusha since they claimed a spot, though. Azdusha seems to not be coming back. I don't think he's going to become a regular contributor to this board. I'd give Christopher a few more days tho...

Have the elevations changed much since the grayscale? Else the mountain on the northeastern continent is driving going from source to mountain to sea. Looks fine otherwise to me

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
Despite Ebba's first map (which seems the much more likely to me overall), I find it kind of hard believe that people would cross over the desert once evolving when there's a more temperate route that they could cross over instead. It also saves me the trouble of having to think of superfamilies wit...

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
Are we going to come up with any sort of racial groupings of our conpeople as a group or are we going to see what happens after we each determine what our people should look like?
I'm imagining a Swahili-like language family for my people with a slightly more synthetic grammar
