Re: Nice sounding natlangs
Seeing as how everyone's pretty much summed up their favorite and not-so-favorite languages, I'll just post my top three favorite dialects and top three not-so-favorite ones. Meh. Off topic? Yay European French (French from France > Belgian French > Swiss French) British English (RP > everything els...

My mom, for one, always pronounces her 's, and Spanish is her first language. The same can be said for most of the people in my family who don't speak much English. In fact, here it's very common for a Mexican accent in English to entirely lack [v] due to the prevalence of . Although some accents d...

Re: On Spanish post-alveolars/palatals
That happens in every dialect of Spanish, at least as spoken by native speakers. I wouldn't say that for every particular lenition. I do see [d] becoming [ð] in many to most (if not all) dialects, but I also know a lot of people that always pronounce as and never change it to [β]. Where are those p...

However, I do notice that my <y> and <ll>, which having undergone yeísmo due to my accent, alternate between [j], [ɟ͡ʝ], and [d͡ʒ]. I've yet to notice any particular reason for these alternations, and they do in fact seem quite arbitrary. I'm not a native speaker, but living in Texas (near Conroe, ...

Re: Words you love because of their sounds
I really like the perfective form of the verb "to shower" in Czech, osprchovat [ˈospr̩xovat]. I mean, the imperfective sprchovat [ˈspr̩xovat] sounds fine too, but to me there's just something about the fact that the syllabic [r] immediately precedes a stressed syllable and is still... well, syllabic...

My <ñ> and <ch> are pretty standard to be honest. They never stray away from [ɲ] and [t͡ʃ]. However, I do notice that my <y> and <ll>, which having undergone yeísmo due to my accent, alternate between [j], [ɟ͡ʝ], and [d͡ʒ]. I've yet to notice any particular reason for these alternations, and they do...

Re: TC: Relative and complementizer clauses
How come I don't see glossed natlangs in these threads that often? Would be nice to see some glossed Welsh and whatnot. Ooh, I agree. It'd be nice to see how other natlangs do it, not to mention to see the connection between one's conlang and the natlang of their choice... (even though this thread ...

I would recommend against using the beta in your conlang's orthography-- it sticks out and looks ugly. Use "bh" or something instead. (I assume that stands for /B/?...) Also what's with the capital letters, are you going some kinda Klingon style or something? ... I don't think it's a beta that he's...

Re: What's your favorite thing about your conlang?
I kind of do that in Adwan! Except instead of prefixing and suffixing, i use affixed order after the conjugation, so the verb is technically conjugated twice. The endings are the same whether they're subjective or objective, they simply rely on order (and thematic consonants) to tell them apart :p

What's your favorite thing about your conlang?
The title's pretty straightforward. Any quirks or perks pertaining to your conlang that you can't help but favor? I've recently written a post on my grammar blog about verb nominalizations, and how the nominalizations can take subjects and objects, as verbs are conjugated before they are nominalized...
