Re: The dream thread
Four nights ago: I was a child. My family moved into this awful burned-down house, because my parents had heard that the former owners had used the place as a souvenir shop... and they wanted to scrounge for cheap souvenirs. Except there was this back room separated from the rest of the house by tw...

Re: The dream thread
Eww, half-drunk orange juice. That sounds like something I would dream about (or find at Wal-mart for real). I had a dream I was stuck in this house on an island with my mother. We'd gone there to visit the nearby lighthouse that was featured in this Youtube video series. It was some sort of horror ...

Re: The dream thread
I dreamed... erm, well. I don't know what the rest of the dream was, I only really remember one scene. I was hanging around with this vampire named Jack, and razzing him about stuff. I told him hey I know you're a vampire, and a pretty old one too. He looked sort of impressed, and asked how I had de...

Re: The dream thread
I had a dream I killed my best friend. :| We were both maybe 11-12 years old, I think. For some reason we were arrested by the cops and put in "jail", but it was really just a bunch of convicts locked in outdoor petting zoo stalls, so the second the guards weren't watching we just climbed over the w...

Re: The dream thread
I've never dreamed about a plane crash, surprisingly... tsunamis, tornados and earthquakes, sure. But no plane crashes. I did have a dream recently about this reality TV show, where I was competing against a bunch of burly men. We had to spend about a week in the wilderness. Whoever could catch, but...

Re: The dream thread
I had a dream I can't remember most of, but I do clearly remember that I professed my love to someone. That was apparently the highlight of the dream, but when I woke up I immediately forgot who said person was. Guess it wasn't mean to be?

Re: Computer games
Kobog was actually created for a game... I just haven't done much in the way of development for said game, since what I want to do and what I am able to code are still very different things at this point. So I have a bunch of language-related documents, some random 3D models that should eventually b...

Re: The dream thread
I had a dream in which I was supposed to either be infiltrating, sabotaging or assassinating (can't remember which... hehe) this secret society of supernaturally decrepit old people that met in this secret meeting place inside an old clock tower. I didn't actually get to do so because on the way I d...

Re: The dream thread
I was sick this morning, so I slept, and had quite a few short dreams, all of which I've forgotten by now. Should've written them down as soon as I woke up :( Oy, don't even get me started on sick dreams... I still remember a certain incident where I yelled at this small, Scottie-type dog to get of...

Re: The dream thread
Lots of people were being abducted by aliens, and my family and I were living on this secluded little farm with a makeshift barn and some animals. It was very creepy, and a lot like Signs, except the aliens were literally abducting people in UFOs and taking them who-knows-where. We started seeing UF...

Like: Germanic languages Quechua Mayan languages Mongolian Sumerian and Akkadian Dislike: Spanish. I've been pestered quite a bit about it over the years, but I honestly just don't like it. Mostly just because I don't like the way it sounds... but also partly for being harassed so much over not want...

Re: The dream thread
That actually sounds pretty cool! A few nights ago I dreamed I had to learn to drive our old monster of a van. I was trying to figure out which pedal was for gas and which was the break, while I was driving on the freeway. (For some reason the van moved forward automatically even when I wasn't using...

Re: About furbish
I agree with the preprogramming... I didn't even talk to my Furbies very much, and they still picked up English at lightning speeds. In addition to using cutesy words which weren't used in my family... so their basic language "skills" were certainly preprogrammed. They could also "parrot" words that...

I do remember that "Kah way-lah coco" meant "me sleep again". Mine enjoyed saying that a lot.

Re: About furbish
Let me guess... Oontai? ;) I remember Furbish seemed like a pretty novel concept to implement in a kid's toy. Although I do think it would've been made a bit more interesting if Furbies responded to human speech in a more interactive way--I was able to teach one to parrot a couple D'ni words, but in...

Re: The dream thread
I had one where I looked out my window at the inlet, and saw something white bobbing in the water. So I got the binoculars and looked... and it was a wild beluga (whale). Except I live in Florida. :S All these people gathered and were talking about how amazing it was, but then it started swimming up...

Re: The dream thread
Sounds like something out of a creepypasta, TBH. I've (almost, not quite) dreamed Latin once before. Except I don't know enough Latin to dream it coherently, so my subconscious seems to have said "just fudge it" and used this low-pitched inarticulate mumbling instead. Which sounded distinctly demoni...

Re: The dream thread
I had a dream last night (this morning?) that would have made for an interesting Lord of the Rings fanfic, if I were interested in writing it and knew how to patch the obvious plot holes. The dream played out like I was watching a scene on TV. This was some time after they'd left Moria, when Gandalf...

Re: The dream thread
I had a dream that I was basically kidnapped by this Chinese family because they needed me to wrangle a giant lamprey/leech-like... thing... that was living in the coat closet of their high-rise apartment. Their little old granny liked to talk to it and feed it bits of stuff but it tended to eat vis...

There's also Batman/The Batman.
This kind of situation must be a lot easier when you're speaking a language doesn't have that kind of article in the first place.

Re: Your Native Language
Native: Technically I was "brought up" speaking American English, though I've been playing European computer games and talking to English folks since I was six or seven, so a lot of "English-English" terms, spellings etc. have slipped in. Heritage: German and Cherokee, both fairly recent. Other than...

Re: The dream thread
Things in my dreams tend to be hilarious and bizarre when I look back at them, but during the dream they're absolutely terrifying. Like last night, I dreamt that Voldemort was riding a giant cactus and chasing me across a hill which was inside my classroom here at uni. That's hilarious. And it also...

Re: The dream thread
What I meant was the kind of sleep where you actually wake up feeling rested. Generally if I've been dreaming I wake up feeling sapped, like I need to go back to sleep just to recover from having been asleep. That's no fun.

Oy, I had another. Someone tell my subconscious to shut up, please. I'd like to get real sleep for once. D: I am (actually) an operator who moderates a chatroom for a game fandom. It's a sandbox type of game, kind of like The Sims in some respects, so this chat room gets a lot of different people in...

Sure Yog--er, Soap. Eggman is the "correct" name now, it seems, but he was always called Robotnik while I was growing up and I still have a hard time taking the name Eggman seriously. I think he'll always be Robotnik to me. And I love spontaneous telepathy when communicating in dreams. It's just so....
