Re: Post your conlang's phonology
I'm trying to edit my vowel inventory... But I'm not sure how realistic or possible it could be. Basically, I'm pretty happy with how the vowels are in normal situations. However, <a e o> change sometimes in unstressed situations. I don't know if these changes seem reasonable or whatever... Any adv...

Re: Post your conlang's phonology
I have eventually decided to make my language have a /p/ gap rather than a /b/ gap, so that its phonology is more natural. So this is its finalized phonology: Consonants: Plosive: /b t d k g q ɢ/ Fricative: /s h/ Nasal: /m n ŋ ɴ/ Approximant: /l ʁ̞/ Vowels: /i a u/ Allophony: /i/ and /u/ lower to [e...

Taking a break from my main project and experimenting around abit. so... The Alai language: consonants b,t,k,m,j,h,l,s,x,f,' b,t,l,s may be geminated inside words. allowed clusters: xk /l/ may be an /r/-tap before long non-nasal wovels /b/ /t/ /k/ is at end of unconjugated verbs de/voiced to /p/ /d...

Re: Post your conlang's phonology
The Drehu language of New Caledonia has the plosives /p t d ʈ ɖ k g/, with /b/ only occurring in loanwords. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drehu_languageNortaneous wrote:If you're going for realism, you'll want to have the gap be /p/, not /b/.
...Are there any natlangs that have that /b/ gap?

Re: Post your conlang's phonology
Inuktitut has the plosives /p t k g q ɢ/ and lacks /b/ and /d/, so although unusual it is not unheard of in natlangs. My conlang actually has a very similar phonology to Inuktitut, with the same three-vowel system and thirteen consonants in common. Yeah, but it's got /v l/, which I'd guess were */b...

Re: Post your conlang's phonology
I have changed and simplified the phonology of my Eskimo-Aleut inspired conlang. It now has the following 15 consonants and three vowels: Consonants: Plosive: /p t k g q ɢ/ Fricative: /s ɬ h/ Nasal: /m n ŋ ɴ/ Approximant: /l ʁ̞/ Vowels: /i a u/ Allophony: The high vowels /i/ and /u/ become allophoni...

Re: Post your conlang's phonology
Okay perhaps I didn't use the best wording when I said "the correct pronunciation". What I meant is its the pronunciation that occurs most frequently.

Re: Post your conlang's phonology
Drydic Guy: I was using the diacritics just to show the correct pronunciation of the vowels. The vowels are not written in the orthography with the diacritics. They are written simply as a, e, i, o.

Re: Sounds That You Can/Can't Pronounce Easily
I find it hard to pronounce the uvular nasal. Its difficult to render a nasal so far back in the throat. I also have difficulty pronouncing pharyngeal and epiglottal consonants.
