Re: Post your conlang's phonology

Here's a phonology I'm considering for one of my unnamed conlangs: Plosive: /t tˤ k kˤ/ Fricative: /s sˤ ħ h/ Nasal: /m mˤ n nˤ ŋ ŋˤ/ Lateral: /l lˤ/ Vowels: /i~e ə̃ a u~o/ /i~e/ and /u~o/ are and before non-pharyngeal(ized) consonants and are [e] and [o] before pharyngeal(ized) consonants. Plosives...

Re: Post your conlang's phonology

i/ɪ e/ɛ y/e o/ɔ a~ɑ (Stressed/unstressed; a is always stressed..) It seems odd that the unstressed allophone of /y/ is [e]. A much more plausible unstressed allophone would be [ʏ]. Perhaps you could also consider adding a high back vowel to your vowel system to make it more balanced. :o My bad, tha...

Re: Post your conlang's phonology

Something with an Australian flavor that I came up with: Plosive: /p t̪ t ʈ k/ Nasal: /m n̪ n ɳ ŋ/ Approximant: /w ɹ ɻ j ɰ/ Lateral approximant: /l̪ l ɭ/ Flap: /ɾ ɽ/ Lateral flap: /ɺ ɺ̠/ Vowels: /i e a o u/ Syllable structure: CV(C). Only /ɹ/ and /ɻ/ can occur in the coda. The CV combinations /wu/, ...

Re: Post your conlang's phonology

After a lot of toing and froing I have decided upon the following phonology for my language: Consonants: Plosive: /p t tˤ k/ Fricative: /f s sˤ ʃ x/ Nasal: /m n nˤ ŋ/ Approximant: /l lˤ/ Vowels: /i a u/ Allophony: /i a u/ > [e ɑ o] when adjacent to a pharyngealized consonant. Phonotactics: CV(C) syl...

Re: Post your conlang's phonology

I have considered changing my consonant inventory to the following: p t tˤ k ʔ b d dˤ g f s sˤ x ħ h v z zˤ ɣ m n nˤ ŋ l lˤ ɾ ɾˤ Phonotactics: CV(C). Words do not begin in a pharyngeal or pharyngealized consonant. Words do not end in a labial consonant or in /h/. This consonant inventory and these p...

Re: Post your conlang's phonology

How would my consonant chart be different if it had pharyngealization as a systematic secondary articulation?

Re: Post your conlang's phonology

Something I came up with for a currently unnamed conlang: Consonants: Plosive: /p t tˤ k/ Fricative: /s sˤ x h/ Nasal: /m n nˤ ŋ/ Approximant: /l lˤ/ Tap: /ɾ/ Vowels: /i a u/ Allophony: /i a u/ > [e ɑ o] when occurring before or after a pharyngealized consonant. [e] and [o] are indicated in the spel...

Re: Post your conlang's phonology

I've created a very simple language inspired by Toki Pona. It has just 15 phonemes (8 consonants and 7 vowels). Consonants: Plosive: / p t k / Fricative: / h / Nasal: / m n ŋ / Lateral: / l / Vowels: Close: / i ɨ u / Mid: / e ə o / Open: / a / Vowel length and tone are non-contrastive, and there are...
