Well, if you've read a paper about it, chances are that you know it as well as anyone else alive today. ;-)
To be fair, that "paper" was Wikipedia.

The answer is nay. There aren't any geminate stops they contrast with, because ejectives are the genesis of stop geminates. The inventory presented is the one used for describing characteristics like sandhi or syllable structure, rather than the standard. Can all other consonants be geminated? I no...

Upside down a denotes something between /ɐ/ because I use small capital oe as a rounded central /ø/. But anyways, all spelling oddities are for stylistic purposes. So is <∀> /ɶ̈/, or /ɐ̹/? I'm confused. Also, "rounded central /ø/" (despite the fact that /ø/ is already rounded) is /ɵ/. I meant round...

Re: Uqonian

I find it slightly confusing that you use <q> and <ƣ> to refer to labialized velars but <qq> to refer to a uvular. I take it that the dieresis and the doubled vowel letter are different ways of writing the same sound depending on whether the context permits the use of diacritics and/or special char...

Pretty much all ya got. I do have a particular lack of understanding in the history department, tho, as most of my info comes from homebrewed websites and Wikipedia.

New Mercian Take One

Mercian Introduction http://i.imgur.com/Up152lz.png?2 Anglian is the term normally used for the dialects of Old English (or Anglo-Jutic-Saxon) that represent the speech of the descendants of the Angles. Within said classification are two subdialects, that probably would evolve into languages with a...

Keep in mind you are claiming the space immediately above Zontas's nightpeople, who are at C-8r. Not sure if you noticed his claim on that one, since he didn't actually write it in his post anywhere. I did. But the map came out so messy you have to follow my instructions for it to work. EDIT: Bette...

EDIT: The image is so damn clunky I have made it only able to be seen if you copied the link, removed the extra "U", then previewed the link.

(doesn't Cornwall have a rhotic accent)? You're thinking of West Country . It extends into Cornwall, but there are so many non-locals there (chiefly from SE England, but also elsewhere) that most of the speakers you'll hear will be non-rhotic. (Actually, West Country accents seem to be declining ev...
