Re: Weird-ass Idioms
Isn't every christmas a white christmas in Finland? I went there once in february and it was minus 20 C, I could hardly breathe (such temperatures virtually never occur in Holland, at least not in the coastal region where I come from, though it occurs sporadically inland). Though I did go inland an...

Essentially, if you are making an a priori conlang, that implies you have to pull most of it e posteriori.

I use Open Office and Notepad. The Rireinutire lexicon lives in an .xls spreadsheet. I've got separate sheets for English to Rireinutire and Rireinutire to English wordlists. As of this writing, there are 3,638 headwords in the Rireinutire list and 6,697 headwords in the English list.

Missed this somehow. The age-old method is rivers. Having your own pool is an aspiration not only in Verduria but in (say) Xurno and Uytai. There are some regions (e.g. Luduyn) where that biological urge must be muted. Br-r-r-r! Not necessarily! In Britain there are people who like swimming in open...

But it's not wokky if it's not sauce. D: Okay then. :/ Is this a Thing in Sweden or something? I mean "wok" meaning a style or genre of food? I would find that unsurprising. Here in Finland, 'wokki' seems to be used not only as the name of the cooking utensil but also as the word for a dish that ha...

Re: Performance arts of my conpeople and yours
The Rireinukave have many and varied kinds of performance art, as you might expect from a starfaring species. Here are a couple that I have especially noticed: Eiha , a traditional form of theatre, is highly stylised and formalised. The characters are gods, demons, and heroes. The face and body pain...

Re: The Miniature Conlangs Thread
This language no verbs.
Well, almost. I've been thinking about a conlang with no lexical verbs. It would use light verbs with an appropriate noun or adjective instead.
Such as
do word ::= speak
do food ::= eat
make food ::= cook
do foot ::= walk

If you mean cost as in 'to estimate the cost of', then yes, its past tense is costed.

Wait, wait, why are people still using the old test, I [completely forgot that I] revised it, use this one instead Well then. Let's see how Rireinutire fares now. As a reminder, Rireinutire has a fairly restricted phonology: /p t k Ɂ m n ŋ v s h ɹ j ɑ i u e o/ (C)V(Ɂ) True - green Half-true - blue ...

You can have any name you want, but the name should have some meaning. I usually tend to create toponyms that may sound strange to the English ear, but have some relation to the location. Rosadure "from us(exclusive)" was the first Kutorenian settlement in the "new world". Yes, there should be mean...
