Language/writing systems in a telepathic society

So this idea came to me when I was walking home today. In a society where telepathy is universal (ie everyone can communicate telepathically), what would happen with spoken language, and writing systems? My first thought: "Can anyone communicate with anyone, or does said telepathy have a range?" If ...

Re: The dream thread

Dream recall is returning to me. Unfortunately, the dream I had last night is one I'd rather not have had. No, it wasn't a nightmare. It was a pretty happy dream, but it was about the same girl again. Backstory time!!! Over the summer, when I still lived in Vancouver, I met a girl, and we bonded qui...

Re: Most beautiful/ugliest languages

In general, I can't stand velar or uvular fricatives. They hurt my ears to listen to, and they hurt my throat to try and say. Thus, I dislike any languages with extensive use of these sounds. Also, I for some reason, don't like any languages with a very phonetic alphabet, like spanish, or Turkish. I...

Re: The dream thread

I haven't had a long, vivid dream in nearly a week, which is concerning for my lucid dreaming practice.

I was sick this morning, so I slept, and had quite a few short dreams, all of which I've forgotten by now. Should've written them down as soon as I woke up :(

3700 years ago, the only populated continent in my conworld was wiped out by a natural disaster, and instead, several thousand surviving humans fled. I like the sound of Germanic languages, specifically Scandinavian. I dislike the sound of Turkish, however, as well as many Asian languages. Oddly enough, I find Chinese/Japanese easy to listen to.

Most of the first world regions on my conworld are much the same with regards to death rituals. As my conworld is post-modern, nihilism is the majority belief in much of the world. So most death rituals consist of a funeral, with mourning, people reading, etc..., much like on Earth. The body is then...
