Re: Babblers

Yeah, there's the function to load the table of contents on Kindle that the users can click it and move to the chosen chapter. I (obviously) don't know how they're made, but the other books (LCK, ALC, Lexicopedia) all have it.

Re: Poll: Favourite Almean languages

Wede:i. Are we ever going to see a Cuolese or Jeori grammar?

Though based purely on the phonotactics, I think it goes for Nanese, even though it's just a few scattered names at the moment. And Neinuoian, which looks ... well, intriguing.

Re: Babblers

I just bought both the Babblers and the Book of Cuezi on Kindle, and the first feedback: neither book has a table of contents. The Babblers would still be readable, but navigating the Book of Cuezi without a built-in table of contents is very difficult at the moment.

Re: ancient civilizations

Ouch, the Verdurian embassy establishes Verduria's 3480 is indeed (more or less) the present day. Zompist, I demand an explanation how AD 325 corresponds to 2780 but 20th century Earth to 3480.. ;) A Lara Croft style adventure story in Verduria sounds like an interesting read, though. "The Rogues" i...

Re: Readers for "Babblers"

I wish I could offer myself as a reader, but unfortunately not now. Just dropped by to say that I got Lexicopedia and I haven't noticed any serious problem with display in the Kindle format. Hopefully the market responds better this time. Perhaps throwing in some linguistic matters could poke more i...

Almea x Incatena crossover possibility?

Sorry if this is too below average intelligence or somebody mentioned it in a different thread already. I just had a stupid idea that clicked in. The Elenicoi left the Earth in AD 325 and arrived in Avela in 2780. 1689 years passed since on the Earth, and even when we assume that the travel was inst...

The Historical Atlas..

I have read through the atlas several times back and forth, and after all those hours I'm beginning to complain... Just a little. I would like to suggest a few points in case that the 2nd edition is not an impossibility but something that might come in the distant future. The Atlas as it is contains...

Re: Against Peace and Freedom out soon!

I recently obtained a Kindle Paperwhite, and went through three kits to see if anything was missing. Ɣ or Ȟ didn't display properly on iPad app, but it showed all right on KPW. Everything's fine. If I were to ask for an addition to Kindle format, it'd be the real page numbers. As of now, the Kindle ...

Re: The Almean Future

Everyone seems to think Verduria and Dhekhnam will clash. Well, what if they don't? As far as I can see, there is one nation which harbors enmity against both these powers, which is Ismahi. I can certainly imagine a Raizumi-Kebropol alliance to recover the "lost" territories of Azgami and Denosovic ...

Re: English as a North Germanic language?

I'm not convinced. I'm not going to rehearse what's been said already on this thread. Instead, I want to question the comment that "Old English simply died out" -- as if there is a clear-cut discontinuity between "Old" and "Middle" English and as if these two are monolithic units. Much of the Old En...

Re: Interesting approach to Old English?

Depends on what you want to do with Old English. Literature? Linguistics? or just a whim? ;) Corbet and Hough is not a terrible book if you just want to get your feet wet.. and it does give you some real literary texts to work with. But still, I can't say that I like it - instead of preparing you to...

Re: Incatena

Wow, that was a long thread. And I'm kind of glad that I read the novel before reading (more likely skimming through) this thread and the other information on the website. I'm not good at physics or technological stuff, so I won't make comments about it. STL or FTL, cheap energy or expensive one, th...

Re: Against Peace and Freedom out soon!

Not sure if anyone mentioned this, so here it goes: I have purchased and read LCK, ALC, PCK and APAF on Kindle (more specifically, Kindle app for iPad). I was a bit worried by the "unicode compatibility" for the linguistic books, but it turns out that almost everything is pretty O.K., even the LCK/A...

Re: Endangered languages on Almea

I imagine a number of Mgunikpe and Čia languages are dwindling in population. As for Mgunikpe, they have been hunter-gatherers, likely to be small in population, and displaced by Čia-Ša and Gurdagor in large portions of their homeland. The remote Mgunikpe languages might be doing just fine, but I su...

Re: Question on the Zone of Fire

Topic seems to be dormant, but still on the first page. Reading the Historical Atlas of Almea, I got an impression that the Zone may be breached in a few centuries, if not less... Bekkayin states have been visited by the southerners, after all, and with the faster, larger and more reliable ocean-goi...
