Re: American perceptions of British accents
Funny thing - my brother (possesses a Midwestern/Western hybrid, pretty much GenAm) heard the RP pronunciation of "auburn" when he was little, and for a time, said it as [ɔɹbən] or [ɔɹbɪn]. On-topic - I think the non-rhotacism and the /u/ realised as [y] or [ʉ] is what distinguishes British from Gen...

I'd really like to do something with Old Chinese (pref. the Baxter-Sagart). PIE is quite ridiculous - it makes Karlgren's OC reconstruction look sane.

Velars become palatals before the /i/ and /e/ vowels and /j/. Meanwhile, the palatals become alveolar affricates.

Sometimes I mix up Japanese and Tibetan, because I'm okay with Japanese and learning Tibetan, so I'll say things like Boku wa nagidu desu. or Ngä chichi ga yagshöre , ne? Pharyngeals are okay, but epiglottals? No way. No way can I say those. I can do regular, aspirated, glottalised, voiced, and nasalised clicks, but all those combination/uvular clicks in Juu and its relatives are impossible. Vowels are mostly good, but like the OP, I have trouble distinguishing /o/ a...

Re: The Most Batshit Natlang Competition!
Archi has both batshit phonology, being a Caucasian language, and a batshit grammar. The verbal morphology and the extremely fusional aspects of its grammar make it batshit insane in that department.
Also, Navajo. Verbs are insane, noun classifiers, all of that. However, the phonology's okay.
