Re: Plausible limits of population

But you imply that the probability is very small, to the point of being 'delusional'. If someone says "I think X is an upper bound of what might possibly be plausible maybe" and someone else says "you're delusional", it's hard to read that as actually saying "yes, you're correct, but I think it wor...

Re: Plausible limits of population

Except you'd probably still be reliant on the surface for fresh air and water. Why waste energy recycling it, when you have a colossal store just a tunnel away? It doesn't make much sense to horribly pollute it. I guess it all depends on how you perceive humanity. I am somewhat optimistic that the O...

Re: Plausible limits of population

So in theory, the Earth alone could sustain us, if we learned how to tap into it? That's good news for us, and it allows us to preserve the eco-system!

Hm... Well, if we've already got as much solar as we can, and wind and water energy isn't enough... Geothermal does seem like the only available source. How much can that bring in?

Conlang Help

Ok, not so sure if this is the correct forum, but here goes. Hey! I'm hoping you guys can give me a hand deciphering a conlang in the theme songs to two games. Whilst there is an official set of lyrics to one song, my own tentative transcription suggests that there it's not quite as correct as it co...

Unfortunately, syntax forces that last one to be along the lines of 'a dead person has been sentenced'.

Only in America.

We've already assumed ridiculous things. What's one more? Besides, engineering with carbon nano-tubes will have come a long way. Build your stilts out of that, and they should the incredibly stong.

It'd be a net loss, since you don't have wind underwater.
Muppet. You put wind turbines on top of the water. On giant stilts.

Re: Plausible limits of population

Well, once a society's got into a mindset of 'take what you want, give nothing back', the only practical way to snap them out of it is for them to destroy their eco-sphere and cause a massive failure of civilisation. Assuming they survive, of course.

What if you prevented such doubled chromosomes from letting the offspring develop at all? Would that not then force all births to be one of these four genders?
