Re: Conlang relay [relocated] (aka "The Cursed Relay")

You can basically do anything you want, just make sure that you don't mess up things already known about the place and the time where your language (family) will be spoken.

Bearlandic according to new test: 1. Absence of any phonemic POA for stops further back than velar [half mark for only one stop-POA behind velar, or for prominent allophonic stops behind velar] 2. Phonemic voicing 3. Phonemic voicing only on stops and fricatives 4. Voicing distinction on fricatives ...

Re: Help your conlang fluency

German with a Finnic substrate, or? The only words I can't make out are "iavezen" ( ia vezen certainly corresponds to wes- , one of the stems in sein 'be') and "maashmo" ( maashmo ~ manchmal ). Other than that it's all German/W-Germanic words indeed. ia- = ge-, g > j looks regular iano! Genau!

Re: Sound Change Quickie Thread

Thank you for your answers! As all of them go through *g it seems I have to devoice the voiced plosives of the proto-language, and aspirate the old voiceless plosives. And while I was working on it anyway, I've also added some new sound changes. It becomes more and more difficult to believe that it ...

Yeah, I want to have a sound change that didn't make sense. It took something like 5000 or 6000 years, so quite a lot can have happened before it finally became a k’, I guess.
