Actually, relatedly, what does vohpenonomae's custom rank ("N'guny") mean?

Fair enough. Although, if enough people show up, we could have a third team.

Also, I can see the Team 1 subforum.

Re: The Next Relay 2015

Speed-reading through, a few questions I may have missed the answers to: (1) is anyone assigned to do T-2's proto-lang or was T-2 collaborative; I thought Nannalu was going to. Although he didn't say that explicitly. (2) do we have a board, and, if not, has anyone undertaken the search; Pole, could...

Well, I was figuring the larger peninsula, but sure, that'll work. :-)

And yeah, Yruisa should be on team 1?

Re: The Next Relay 2015

Fair enough, actually. I did end up feeling a lot like I couldn't really help with our protolang's development last year... this way I don't have to. Although I do support allowing collaboration if we want to. Also, could we use the old forums? Pole?

Re: The Next Relay 2015

As this is my first time: do we create a Bronze Age protolang together first, and then each team create a daughter language in the classical era? One person on each team creates a protolang for their team and the rest develop the daughter languages. The protolang is Bronze Age and the daughters are...

Re: Weird phrases from real languages

Another word I find strange is oiseau in French, it uses all 5 of the French vowels. You still have a lot to learn ... There is also every word in Polynesian languages, where every syllable ends in a vowel. Birdlang.... how shall I put this? Up your standards. No, no, how about this: We've upped ou...

As for /tⁿ dⁿ/, I find them odd as phonemes, as there are no other consonants with phonemic nasal released. I would suspect them to be the realization of a /tn dn/ cluster. Not writing <tn dn> but <tg dg> strikes me as very odd. You could justify that if it's a romanization, or if there's a good di...

I heard one on NPR that went something like "<organization> is condemning the large numbers of civilians killed."

(Why, what did the civilians do to earn that organization's contempt?)

But if you soak a duck in that, it might turn into cyanide when it gets inside its body. This is not how chemistry works; more important...
