Re: Apical/Laminal Axis
The term you are looking for might be "active articulator". POA can be broken down in passive and active articulators, although the latter distinction is rarely employed and people can usually make do with naming just the passive articulator ("labial", "dental", "palatal" etc. instead of "bilabial"...

Apical/Laminal Axis
Is there a term for the apical/laminal(/subapical) axis in coronals? Or is it a second dimension of POA just for coronals?

Re: Munutuni: The Ugly Language
Have an abugida/mixed alphabet where the vowel-changing symbols may appear as letters in their own right (they take up space in line as a full consonant letter would) and some, like in the Brahmic scripts', would appear before the consonant letter instead of after. For even more fun, have suppletive...

Re: Spirit = Breath
Life words will often be related to breath words because breath is the most obvious sign of life; ghost words may also be related to breath words because it's common to see breezes both as breath and as the work of spirits. One reason I ask is because I think I remember-- but am not sure-- reading ...
