Re: Norman Conlang

@mèþru: Thanks for the insights! I'll take them into account when working on Norman. First, I haven't exactly done much research (which is a huge mistake on my part) into the history of Normandy, so this gives me a whole new opportunity to work with things I hadn't even considered. As for languages,...

Norman Conlang

It was created in 1797 by a group of wealthy Normans who took an interest in their regio...

Re: Scandinavian/Baltic Auxlang

Shame about the scrapping. Is Nation States still even around? You read Jennifer Government? Link us up when you post that language description. NationStates is still around, and with it every single possible ideology there is. I haven't read Jennifer Government yet, but it seems interesting and it...

Re: Scandinavian/Baltic Auxlang

Ditto what Genome said. Any update? I made a Germanic auxlang myself, which takes the Scandinavian languages on board. Only thing left online right now, though, is this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rbt6d4wfBBA Terribly sorry to disappoint, but I ended up scrapping the auxlang because I redid my ...

Re: Changes to Aeghilian

My best advice here would be to learn IPA. It's one of the most useful resources available for conlanging (or learning a natlang) because it's a logical chart that contains all of the sounds that are used in language. For example, "knife" and "kniv" both look very similar (they're from English and D...

It has lots of allophony that is basically useless because the phonotactics doesn't allow those same clusters needed for allophony....

Proto-Northern

Proto-Northern is a protolanguage for one of the major language families of my alternate history project, with the point of divergence being the absence of the Cretaceous-Paleogene Extinction Event. This has caused mammals to remain the small rodent-like creatures that they were in the Cretaceous Pe...

Scandinavian/Baltic Auxlang

So, I've recently started working on an auxlang that is to be used by a fictional nation of mine, which encompasses what is today the Nordic countries, the Baltic countries, New Zealand, Malta, and the Canary Islands. The auxlang is based off of the following languages: Danish , Norwegian , Swedish ...

Re: Reverse Romanization Challenge Thread

It being an alien language isn't so much of an excuse for it being big, unless you can prove that it absolutely needs to be that big. I've created an alien race, the Tá-Sīsī, that only has a five-letter romanisation for all possible sounds that they can make (ignoring tone, which the language makes...
