Re: Happy Things Thread

1) Despite a setback this weekend, I now have another consultation for laser hair removal in a couple of days. This weekend, I'd gone to one and came away very disappointed when I found out that they didn't charge per-session, but want patients to enter into a 12 month payment plan totaling $4600. 2...

Re: Haedus SCA - Bugfix (01/24)

Okay, I learned this the hard way - the SC file has start from the second line, because the first line is ignored. I feel like I've seen this happen before, but I'm not sure why. Unless you are using a text editor which is inserting a byte-order marker at the start of the file. I haven't had a lot ...

Won my small-claims case, I got a refund for my useless IPL system, have a laser consultation this weekend, and my nipples have been non-stop tender for the last three days. Guess that means things are turning out in my favor.

Re: Happy Things Thread

My back hurts because I've been doing falls and rolls. I did an ukemi without support of my hands, and straight over my head, instead sideways over my shoulder. I also jumped over two people and fell on the floor quite well. But it hurts, and tomorrow I'm gonna be stiff as hell. I haven't done this...

Re: Happy Things Thread

I may have won my small-claims case. The county attorney adjudicating it seemed to think the apartment looked like it was in very good condition, which would contradict the position of the defendant, my former landlord. I'll know in a week or so. I cannot describe the lack of stress I feel right now.

Re: Happy Things Thread

I got my IPL system to remove hair from my face! I tested it on my chest and it didn't really hurt much. even on the highest setting, it felt like a very mild electric shock. I was actually expecting it to be more painful, and it probably will be on my face. Tonight, I'm gonna try it out on the frin...

Woo, I'm starting spironolactone and getting my estradiol bumped to 2mg a day. Hopefully this does interesting things to my body. Woo! Although your dosages confuse me - I started right off the bat with estradiol and spiro. Yeah... I think they were hoping the lower estradiol dose (I started at 1mg...

Re: Happy Things Thread

Since last night, I have relearned all the hiragana to the point that I can essentially read and write them fluently, almost all the katakana, and a handful of kanji. I'm a bit alarmed by how fast I'm going, but it's probably mostly a function of having learned them a few years ago (and subsequentl...

Re: Passive voice in Ergative languages

I do not understand why ergative languages can't have a passive voice. The problem is that, in from the perspective of Nominative-Accusative languages, Ergative languages are always using "passive voice". In Nom-Acc alignment, the agent argument is the "Subject" (not a universally applicable idea),...

I got some slacks and a nice khaki skirt (which I never would have considered, but I love it). Cool! What's it like? Slacks are plain black, and dark grey and pinstripe. The khaki skirt is a fairly short a-line, probably mid-thigh. Plus I got a light, plaid blouse, and some kind of clutch-wallet th...

Ok guys, who want to help improve my lexicon, and what's the best way to share the work? Google Drive? Some kind of version control (probably Git or SVN)? Mostly the problems are normalizing transcription with data coming from 3 or more sources, and de-duplicating and merging entries. Also, I'd real...

Those problems actually turn out to be a really really dumb error which, shockingly, none of my current tests apparently were affected by. This is now fixed though. Sorry for the dumb mistake.

Re: Haedus SCA - Bugfix (01/06)

I could use "^", "~" or another symbol instead of "!", whatever avoids using up characters people already use. Thoughts? The one issue with "!" is that people might want to use it for clicks. After that, my first choice would be "^". My concern exactly. !(abc) = { ab!c a!bc a!b!c !abc !ab!c !a!bc !...

Re: Haedus SCA - Bugfix (01/06)

Did you mean that to read "B = b d g"? I thought it was odd that you were using "b" as a variable name (which is legal, provided it doesn't conflict with an existing literal). Changing the "b" to "B" in the variable name allows it to work, and re-assigns the values correctly. Further, I re-tested th...

Re: Haedus SCA - Bugfix (01/06)

b is in lowercase, this is what causes the problem, i think anyway, this was the whole rules fule iirc P = pw p t k B = bw b d g V = a o P > B / V_V P = p t k b = b d g B > 0 / #_ I was just making sure redifining works properly. Yeah ok, I'll have to look into this, though I'm not sure I'd say thi...

Re: Haedus SCA - Bugfix (01/06)

Are !(abc) and !{a b c} intended to be special cases, or can you put ! before any (complex) pattern and get a result? In HaSC you can negate more or less any pattern, so e.g the following would be fine: (CC(a|e|i)(k|m)i~)~ = match a sequence that isn't: two consonants + a,e,or i + k or m + not i Wh...
