Re: The Contradictory Feelings Thread

As unfortunate as that is to hear, honestly, I think you're being a little hard on yourself. I think anyone in the same circumstance would feel roughly the same way if not worse. I mean, I probably would.

Re: Venting thread that still excludes eddy (2)

Btw is it okay that I'm asking you so many questions, mèþru? In general, I think that an individual British person can be more of an authority on British imperialism than an Indian, just as a Japanese person can be more of an authority on Western music than an Italian. They can but not when they don...

Re: Venting thread that still excludes eddy (2)

Sal, as long as you don't see a problem with lecturing a person of Indian origin about British imperialism, you and I will never have a rational argument. It's really that simple. End of story. I'm seeing a therapist twice a week. Good for you! :) My problem was that I knew material well but was ter...

Re: Venting thread that still excludes eddy (2)

That sounds like a difficult situation to be in all right. So you're saying you're struggling to graduate from high school? Have you considered seeking professional help? Maybe online therapy? I personally have found Lantern very helpful (at least back when it could be used on desktop computers, too...

a) Saying someone is an asshole is not necessarily an extreme statement. b) You're still over-ascribing things to mental illness.

...by assuming that avoiding an awkward conversation necessarily is mental illness? The point of the post you were responding to isn't whether it's easy to have these conversations. The point is that we need to have them . Your analogy doesn't work because you're not taking into account people who d...

Anyway, I think the Chinese languages all have less than 50 m speakers Huh? Mandarin has more than ten times that many. (Also, isn't this pretty inconsistent with the vague criteria you're using for "knowing" a language?). I think it sounds incredible that there are even any speakers left, especial...
