Re: Makija, p.1

Oh yes- since the grammar is not entirely finished, the last thing I needed to put in there was ‘ha,’ ‘hi,’ and ‘hu.’ They denote cases.

Makija, p.1

After a long and strenuous strain with the creation of conlangs, I have decided to go the minimalist route and create a minimalistic conlang. There. That’s my intro. Here’s what I have so far- (I just really want to know if I’m missing anything huge I should put in here, or if I’m making any mistake...

Hyassien, p.1- Phonology sketch

Here's the second conning I'm doing. Hooray! My goal here was to create a slick-sounding phonology, so understand my lack of phonemes like /p/, and /g/, and /t/. The vowel system is- /i, y, u, e, o, a/. The diphthongs are- ai (written as 'ai' in the coming alphabet)- makes the 'y' sound in 'sky' ui ...

Gartul, p.4- Alphabet

Finally. I’ve gotten to the alphabet! Here it is.

I tried to make it, aesthetically, like a futuristic-looking alphabet. I don’t entirely know if it worked. But I like it.

As always, constructive criticism is welcome!

Re: Gartul, p.3- Phonology

Hello all! Here's an update on the phonology, as I have learned, is a bit rough. VOWEL SYSTEM- CLOSE- i, u CLOSE-MID- e MID- ə NEAR-OPEN- a CONSONANTS I'm adding 'k.' DIPTHONGS ia (as in 'yah') ai (as in 'buy') ue (as in 'weh') uə (like an umlauted o) ua (as in 'wah') au ('ow) Okay, thanks. I'm tryi...

Re: Gartul, p.3- Phonology

If this was ever a languages vowel inventory, I would expect something like /i e a o u/ to come from it. Otherwise, if you wanted a more interesting 5-vowel system, /i a u ɨ ə/ would be cool and possible. Thanks, that actually is pretty good. you could consider adding retroflex stops, and maybe /k/ ...

Re: Gartul, p.3- Phonology

1. Vowels Generally, a 5-vowel system will use /i e a o u/. Indeed, often the /i/ and /u/ will be simplified to [ɪ] and [ʊ], at least as I understand it. /ɐ/, I think, is fine, though others might simplify it or specify it as /a/ instead. Which is all to say, I don't think a 5-vowel system with /i/,...

Gartul, p.3- Phonology

Jeez. I hated this. It’s necessary, yeah, but the phonology just seemed like SO MUCH WORK. Looking at the IPA chart, all the symbols.....................learning what phonology IS..... I stuck pretty close to English for the phonology at first then decided to throw in a few extra sounds for the heck...

Gartul, p.2- Letters

Here’s the Gartul letters. I’m trying to upload a picture of the alphabet but apparently the picture takes up too much space. *= sounds doesn’t change from English A= ah B= beh C= tsei D= dee* E= eh F= eff G= guh (as in great) H= heh I= eye (as in the word)* J= jeh K= keh L= el* M= em* N=en* O= oh* ...

Gartul, p.1- Tell Me If This Is Terrible

Hey y’all! So, I’m making a conlang. Hurrah! It’s my first one, and I wanted to tell y’all what I have so far, so tell me if this is terrible. It’s entitled Gartul. Enjoy! ————— TENSES Past, present, future, and uncertain tenses all have suffixes. PAST TENSE- add ‘un’ to the end. E.g- ‘morosun’= has...
