Re: Venting thread that embraces everyone without distinctio
I remember an Archie cartoon that went like this.
Shoe salesman: Would you like a thong?
Jughead: Sure! What thong would you like me to thing?
The art showed it was from the 50s (early 60s at latest),

Chagen: have your friend take you to a counsellor at the university. This isn't something you can resolve on your own. ZBBers, does anyone live near him who can do this?

Does interesting food still exist in sufficient quantities for everyone, or do you have to eat algae and yeasts?
What strange or humorous thing do we do at this time that you 2176 people just find weird or silly or laughable?

Wow! Welcome back
OK, I guess that's a bit creepy since I'm at least 15 years older than you, if not 20. But you look very grown-up and sophisticated.
But wait! Is that cup partly made out of glass? It looks weird for the coffee to be visible like that.

I dreamt I was at work and this person (who had just quit) was trying to get me to join her and take the train to Iceland, which was similar to the Chunnel train, to live with Vecfaranti. But I didn't pack my clothes in time so I missed it.

Re: The 200,000 Year English Project
What's wrong with keeping it to, say, 2000 years, which is manageable? You can always keep adding 2000 year increments. 200,000 years is ridiculous and grandiose, like the person who starts learning Klingon and then wants to translate the Bible after one lesson. You might as well make it 200,000,000...

No, still way too far away. This is weird then; a check-up on what's going on might be a good thing. Well, in the near future, I'm going on vacation to Winnipeg, and on the way back down I'm going to Minneapolis to hit the used book stores, so I'm looking forward to that. I think my bluh feelings h...

I know you don't care about what Céline Dion does, and neither do I, but I thought it was delightfully ridiculous.
Anyway, here's a vent. Maybe it's my age, but it just seems there's so little to look forward to now.

I'm very sorry you're so sick. Perhaps pretending Céline Dion is returning to Las Vegas on your behalf too (even if she doesn't know it) will help you feel stronger.

Yes, why not use "truly" or "true"? Unless you are trying to communicate a shade of meaning which will be obvious to the listener, the Anglo-Saxon words always have more force than the Anglo-French or Greco-Latin ones.

I think sirdanilot needs to buy some yarn and run his fingers through it or play with it like a cat so he can learn the word in a tactile manner and then calm down about it.
