I have a suggestion for #5 above -if you're going all African on it- and that is body modification rituals. I know they're present in Asia somewhat (more specifically, the southeast island peoples of Asia / Papua New Guinea area and all that), but Africa has weird and wonderful things like tribal sc...

I'm a bit surprised that there's absolutely no vote for zim so far. I know a good deal of girls and women in real life who have some "geeky" or "intellectual" interests but who, aside from that, are into traditionally "female" stuff, too. So I would have thought that at least some of the female mem...

Re: You're probably sick of people asking this...
I may be having problems because I didn't get my tongue-tie removed around 2 years ago (hence why I usually pronounce t, d, l, n as dental).) Why would that make you pronounce them dental? Dental is further forward than alveolar. The wikipedia article says that the frenulum is futher forward in the...

John, I have a question regarding Ithkuil: when you were thinking out all the different roots, did you have to think of exactly what frame they had? Like, when mapping out "to cut" (or whatever the Ithkuil equivalent is) did you define there and then that "to cut" is, for example: INSTRUMENT MANNER ...

Whoops! I had a lot of catching up to do with your Cognitive Linguistics lessons there, but I got them done! I especially like the FRAMES part; I'll definately do some more reading up on that. I'm also quite happy that I'm not in a sea of jargon, and that I understand most of it (unlike other endeav...

And then I wanted to say: The poet is a liar who always says the truth. So I had: T? an file br?agad?ir a (d?anta na f?rinne) i gc?na?. What I don't understand is why it's d?anta na f?rinne. It seems to me it would be an expression, as in "well, to tell you the truth, she's sick - Uell, t? s? tinn,...

"'Bhfuil" (not An bhfuil)? Does anyone say /@n'vil/ for an bhfuil ? I thought the /n/ was deleted in speech and the remaining /@/ tends to get swallowed up by nearby vowels. Thus, in a sentence like C?n chaoi a bhfuil t?? , it gets overwhelmed by the /i:/ of chaoi . C?n chaoi a bhfuil t?? is genera...
