It's a pretty fuzzy topic, IMO, but I'd say that "seeing" in that sense would be a straight out verb, because it doesn't function of an adjective. A form of a verb that in some languages, such as English, can function independently as an adjective, as the past participle baked in We had some baked b...

I wouldn't say that's a participle, Merc, though the -ing suffix is found in participles. A participle is basically a verb turned into an adjective. For example: Look at the man sing. Look at the singing man. In the first sentance, "sing" is a verb. In the second sentance, "singing" is an adjective ...

That's pretty interesting, but I think most of Zomp's influences came from Slavic langs for Verdurian. Tho' I could be mistaken. Regardless, welcome to the board! We have a lot of Finns on this board, I believe you're number 8. So you should feel right at home. If you're a geek or a pervert, even be...

Despite years of Spanish, I always had the bad habit of forming the future tense as "Voy a X" instead of properly using the conjugation I should have. It wasn't actually incorrect (at least by the dialect I was learning), but it sounded a bit...juvenile. "I'm gonna do X, I'm gonna do Y" isn't the m...

I just tried the Flaidish. 7ok sachno porrt; neva 7emvon mauk troomen. 7ok sach-no porr-t; ne-va 7en-von mauk troom-en. I eat-definate-irrealis glass-acc; it(sub.)-me(acc.) habit-not can hurt-infinitive A little more complicated then Wede:i syntax, I must say. (Not sure if syntax is the right word t...

I can eat glass, it does not hurt me....Almea style
I've seen the following sentance on a few sites, translated into various conlangs. I can eat glass, it does not hurt me. I've tried to translate the above sentance into Wede:i and Kebreni. Here goes: Go:źingju ngol-zaukaming; go:źur koksazeno. Go:ź-ing-ju ngol-zau-ka-ming; go:ź-ur koksa-ze-no. Eat-I...

I'd have to say that I agree with Rory on the colons. They just aren't too ?sthetically pleasing. Of course, I don't particularly like macrons, either. Wede:i Wedeei Wed?i Wed?i Wed?i Hmmmm ::remembers that it's not his conlang:: I really like the daughter languages. They do a good job capturing the...

LCK Translation Error
For your information, Zomp. The "Cool! I want to do that" and the "What a geek you must be! Get a life!" links aren't working in the italian translations of the LCK. Also, in the portuguese translation, they link to the English answers. Just thought I'd let ya know. How's that Finnish translation co...

It did that to me, too, Glenn. My problem was that I had to change my Screen Area from 800 by 600 pixels to 1024 by768 pixles. (To do this in Windows, just right click on the desktop and click properties and then click on the Settings tab...then use the little slide bar to adjust the screen size) An...

I don't know, I find that kind of stupid and offensive. Between listing Ebonics as a constructed language, and performing an over the top parody of it. Ick, somebody needs to have their cultural assumptions washed out with soap. Meh, i dont find it offensive. (Then again, i'm white) I think that it...

I checked the orthography section and i didnt see anything about in between vowels. Maybe I missed something, but would you care to elaborate?Zomp in the Elkaril grammar wrote:Though they cannot be written in our transcription (they can be in Elkar?l), vowels between u / ? / i can be used to indicate finer distinctions.
