It would also be weird if the language had no unvoiced fricatives, since the language's name is Uy s e? :) Maybe the S would be pronounced weirdly? Except for Xurnese's initial "x", I don't remember any of zompist's usages to be that weird. Well, no, but this is a hypothetical universe where Uyse h...

Goneriku, is that true about Mohammed? I think I've heard people rant about Muhammed being bad because of some passages in the Koran that imply he married someone very young or something like that (Eddy and that one person who got banned for the aformentioned rant (I forget what her name was) come ...

IIRC an Almean day is about half an hour longer than ours, so the Almean year is about 335 Earth days long. A more useful way to put it, since it gives you a figure you can just type into a calculator, is 1 Almean year ~ 0.92 Earth years. Ah, but how many Almean days in an Almean year? Read the fir...

That one's easy to answer, at least: the Sha languages of the Koranax are written in a derivation of the Xurnese syllabary (they didn't bother with the logograms); the Chia languages of Luduyn are written in Gurdagor script; and Tei is written in Jippirasti script. Eh eh... like Serbo-Croat, which ...

Hallo! Hallo. Elkaril has features (such as graded signs and "assigned anaphora") that are not just non-European but plainly non-human . I believe ASL, which is definately human, has something like the assigned anaphora, where you can sign something in a space around you and then refer to that area...

(S)he's probably thinking of the dictionary of modern verdurian (http://www.zompist.com/secret.htm), which was created so the appropriate vocabulary to talk about modern stuff was availible.
