Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
Well, technically the Father Sun and Mother Water aren't gods (they're something higher :D) A common ancestral stock could be interesting, though I might have to rethink the migration patterns. Maybe instead of having the Tll-Ikish come from the north, they come from the east, heading NW, with the C...

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
Torco, you and I should set aside some time to work intensely on the Biwám. Otherwise one of us should take over completely. If we don't, I'm afraid it'll either come together really slow, or really piecemeal.
Do you have a Skype account? Maybe we can talk over the weekend.

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
valiums, Christoph, and jot have quit. Ceresz hasn't quit, but he hasn't contributed in some time (Ceresz if you're reading this, sorry)
And I'll take under Astraios, cuz he's cool.

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
That's fine. I'll take either the mediterranean area under Rickard or the subtropical area under you.Astraios wrote:Is it all right if I stay with my single area? I don't have time make a second conculture.
Along with working with Torco on the Biwám of course (if I'm getting too greedy, let me know)

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
Hmmm. How about something like making the Biwám a civilization composed of multiple city states, most of have Tll-Ikish mercenaries responsible for their defense/army. Kinda like Byzantium and the Varangian guard. #4 sounds good too. Biwám would be common merchants and peasants, Tll-Ikish the milita...

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
Speaking of that, Torco you and I should get to work on that civilization between us. What should we name it (probably something vaguely Chalmean)?

I totally agree with you. That's what point #1 was all about. I'm only saying its a matter of opinion if point #1 is satisfied

No, I guess I don't disagree with you, as long as we both believe that simple majority votes are for matters of opinion only.

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
*Sigh* I really hope I don't end up sounding like a dick 1. As far as we know, the only life to have ever developed did so on a planet. While it does seem that life on a moon is possible it would be radically different from life we know. Differences between Yucop and Earth are OK, laudable even, but...

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
Great! I'm working on it right now Also my vote goes to a mirror Earth (24 hour day, G star, one moon, ~1 AU distance, etc). In fact, I would just as soon have it be a substitute Earth. Don't get me wrong, thinking of different circumstances for the planet/moon's formation is really fun, but as I un...

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
Zompist reccomends Neil Commins' What if the Moon didn't Exist. I don't have a copy, and unless anyone else does I think it would be too much work to for anything other than one moon about the size of Luna

Sure! I was gonna use Proto-Chalmean for some of the Drs-Ikish languages anyways (though that would be MUCH later on.)

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
In that case I shall stay. :D ^^ Anyway, my conpeople aren't really in a position to develop very quickly, so it'll be more realistic with different cultures developing faster and others slower. Quite true, though as I said disparities in technological advancement should be voluntary, and not the r...

Yeah we need all the help we ca get. valiums, Astraios, please don't go! The project wouldn't be the same without you. Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
Great! I'll drop those wh haven't done it yet a line politely reminding them and asking if they want to continue.
Also we should set other deadlines for people starting late. Maybe 4 days. If we don't get enough people, we'll probably have to double up on territories/cultures

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
A few questions/considerations 1. Do you think it's appropriate to start actively advertising this project? Because there's still alot of space left on the map, and we might could use some new recruits 2. I'm starting to ponder again the idea of deadlines and reminders. Obviously we don't want to ke...

Re: Anyone want to Start on a Mass Project?
It seems like there are going to be some delays, and to be honest this kinda sets me back, since the part I really wanted to work on was the bronze age culture
Also, Azdusha, am I correct in thinking that you drew some inspiration for the Lahedu language from Bantu?

Azdusha seems to not be coming back. I don't think he's going to become a regular contributor to this board. I'd give Christopher a few more days though. Oh, and to anyone else thinking about joining, rickardspaghetti and Astraios are probably lonely over on their continent, so you should probably g...
