i'm gonna write a few pronunciations out but mine vary depending on how i feel, or the wind or something. so you can mix and match only /onli/ - between [o:nli] or [oʊnɫi] (ie, I sometimes have a dark L and I sometimes have a diphthong for /o/, sometimes both, sometimes neither, i'm not going to wri...

Re: The "How do You Pronounce X" Thread

People do it sporadically, especially for /d/. It's a really easy feature to pick up that's not hugely stigmatized (compared to glottal stops at least), especially if you often hang out with Americans/Australians or you've spent a lot of time overseas.

Singers tend to use American accents regardless

Heb je Aqaba gezien van uit j e raam? I'm not sure why "vanuit" is better here, possibly it has to do with "zien", as you'd throw something "uit" the window. "Jij" is wrong here, as it's the stressed nominative. "Jouw" could be used, but the unstressed form is way better. Also, Wikipedia uses "Akab...

In English it's pronounced "doyle", and that seems more or less how it's pronounced on teanglann, and possibly on forvo, although the forvo versions are a bit harder to make out (partly because of the worse sound quality). Are you saying there shouldn't be an off-glide? My "Doyle" is bisyllabic and...

It's gonna rain.

英語での"it rains"って、いつも雨が降るとか、モンスーンシーズンで毎日雨が降るという文だけで使うよ
The only time we say "it rains" is in sentences like "it often rains" or "it rains every day in the monsoon season"

In Japanese they normally use the English title (in katakana), but they ...
