AKA the tongue is placed between the upper gum and the upper lip. When drawn downwards, plosives and nasals can be produced. Not so sure about other manners of articulation though...

Yay thread revival!

Anyway, when I look at some languages, it seems like voice and mood seem to blend together.

And, causitivity doesn't have to be a voice. You can have regular active/passive AND causitive/non-causitive.

I can't seem to pronounce /r/. I use /r\/ for English, and when I try to speak Spanish, I end up pronouncing <rr> with a French accent: Spanish /r/ becomes French /R\/.

As for gods or God, I like Neil Gaiman's observation: the universe rewards belief systems. Believe in omnipotent teddy bears, and you'll soon start finding evidence for omnipotent teddy bears. I take it the other way round. You can't believe in anything until you've seen some evidence for it, even ...

Hmm.
Does anybody know exactly what parrots *do* while articulating? Thy don't have lips, but I've heard them pronounce bilabials or pretty darn close.

Start of an Earth song in Verdurian-guess.

My grammar's probably got a few holes, but here you go:
E didha lenge lsö
Epai suzanen kiel cealad’ea šesne sen rizir
Er šrifecao, dy ut tencerao cairam esë
Dy šesnai cecteli lavisir
Er, eššane, dëscelu lerežî fuáyul.

Yupik is not a part of the socalled amerindian languages - which isnt a valid linguistic grouping anyhow. It is an Eskimo-aleutian language. And yes it is complicated but not more complicated than you can learn it just as you can learn any other language. Learn it just like any other language. Have...

My aunt Linda, who lives in Alaska, speaks Yupik. I'd like to learn, but as an amerindian language it's probably really complicated.

English has a possesive pronoun for people-whose- but none for things, so we must say, "The skyscraper whose windows are blue." Maybe it could be something like, "The skyscraper whiches windows are blue."
