Re: Confusing headlines and other trips down the garden path

Well, if you did it for just 8 hours a day, it'd take you somewhere between 3-5 weeks.

If you only did it for an hour a day, you could drag it out for 6-10 months.

Re: Greek and Roman gods names

Does it help to a small degree that it really was high school? I was a teenager, at least! (the first book did come out when I was still in eighth grade, hence "grade school", but only the first one)

tbh I'm most familiar with the Greek names because the Percy Jackson books came out when I was in grade school.

Re: Voting system and reform thread

I'm no elections expert, but I think making voting easier and more accessible would be a better way to get people to vote. All of those suggestions really only work for people who explicitly choose not to vote, but wouldn't do anything to help people who aren't able to vote due to various barriers. ...

Re: Venting thread

I've been sick off and on for a week now, and I'm thoroughly bored of it. I legitimately want to go back to work now! But I just don't think that's a good idea until I'm sure I won't need to e.g. run to the bathroom at a moment's notice, or randomly take a nap. I can technically work from home, but ...

That's true. Sorry if I minimized what you're currently feeling! Upon rereading what I wrote, I realized it wasn't as... encouraging, I guess, as I'd meant.

It's too bad you're still stuck with some psychosis (and here's hoping it'll go away/become more manageable in time), but that's pretty good, comparatively speaking!

I use y'all on occasion, but I have absolutely no clue why. Interesting, I have /i:/ in all of those. (not sure on aphrodisiac, I've never said that aloud so I don't know how I would "naturally" say it) /ɪ/ sounds kind of affected. (a skim of Wiktionary suggests that /ɪ/ is often the UK pronunciation, and /i/ is the US one?)

Re: In-jokes/References/Easter Eggs in your conlang's lexico

I added the root *ljʁm 'take' to the Proto-Tim Ar-O lexicon today. In Ngade n Tim Ar, it becomes liam and shifts in meaning to 'retrieve'. Archaic Wǫkratąk has √ppt 'be powerful, have power to back up a threat', from Microsoft PowerPoint. Both of those are fantastic, but I love √ppt the best.

Having a president and vice president from different parties does not sound like a great idea. There's a reason the US stopped voting separately for those two positions.

Well, the plural marker is /s/ after unvoiced consonants, and /z/ after voiced consonants and vowels.

e.g. <cats> /kæts/ vs. <cads> /kædz/
