The Science behind the Zone of Fire

This is not a question thread, I think that there already has been a thread questionning this climatic or geologic anomaly. But, I have found something very interesting. [quote=]Many researchers, but not a real consensus, believe that sea temperatures near the equator may have become a bit too warm ...

Before leaving for my daily training, I read a part of the page. It was a marvellous read. I like the idea of a mostly verbal language (it almost felt like something natural to me). I'm still questionning myself on which Almean language to learn. I thought of Kebreni, but then, reading about Old Sko...

I think there's a problem with the question. North is North, no matter how the map is oriented. The Japanese used to hang their maps with the top part being the cardinal direction where the sun rises, that's east. We don't say that the Japanese have East for their North. That's downright silly, ain...

Re: South - A geographic problem

The first of these-- south is to the right of the direction the sun rises-- is, if I'm not messing up, equivalent to the idea that the northern hemisphere is the one that's rotating counter-clockwise. That's the sense in which Erel?e is in the southern hemisphere of Almea. Ok. Yet, does the words f...

Re: South - A geographic problem

Well, this is a question that grew within me over the years, it is simple yet questions the essence of the words for "North" and "South". It is said that Erelae and Arcel are both in the southern hemisphere of Almea. What determines South? East and West are well defined, East being where the sun ri...

Well, as far as I have followed the developpment ever since I discovered Almea (like, 4-5 years ago), it never has seem to end. In fact, there could always be some details to show about it. Until now, we haven't (almost) read about Arc?l, but it's the other half of "civilised" Almea. And there is pl...

Sex (and so, by extension, gender) can influence a lot the devellopment of a society. It is a large part of my "conculturing". Biologically, all Taasaweans have no particular bias for sexual desire : their only "sexual goal" is to experience contact. Hence, they can have deep pleasure with anybody, ...

I like that idea of ewemi. Though it fell into deep sexism, which I cannot support, it could have become something special if sexism would have stopped, leaving still the three sexes of Meshaism of Axunai.

chirs-gr :

Some people are really offended when you speak about the deeds of their (even very far) ancestors when they aren't quite moral according to today's standards. At least, we know now that you aren't part of those people. In a doubt, restrain yourself is it said, that is what he did.

It seems I learned the "hard way". I was at Myrtle Beach, on the shore, probably gazing to the ocean. I was two or three years old. And, by myself, I jumped in the see. It seems I didn't have problem swimming, even though my parents came quite quickly. The funniest part though is unrelated to swimmi...

If you ever come in Canada, there are 108 places called "Otter Lake" :) Indeed, there probably are some Lac ? la loutre (French rendering), so there are more :)

I thought it would be interesting.

Indeed, even if we can feel close relations, not everything is entirely clear (in fact, I would always wonder what is Verduria) and I believe that Almea is indeed a world on its own. A marvellous one. (Yet, base civilisations without influences from our Earth is quite a task. This is what I'm trying...

What I also found was some sort of Switzerland : Belshai It is in this unlikely place, landlocked high in the Ediri mountains, that northern ideas such as the zhuyse onteca have found the friendliest reception. As for the Greek equivalent, Skourenes...

Well, yes, but, if you wanted to find Christians, they probably mostly were urbans at that time. Indeed, a lot of philosophies and religious beliefs were to be found in the cities, not only christianism, and they were probably as strong or somehow big. It would have been fun if one of the Elenicoi h...

GREEK, CHRISTIAN, MERCHANT We only read here about inconsistencies. Yet, having Greek Christian Merchants is what would be the most probable event imho. In those days, still a large part of the population were still followers of "paganism". Indeed, the name says it all, paganism was mainly a country...

I'd probably have a self-based religion, where the Universe is a whole made of relating parts. It would be close to the Magicians' beliefs.
