Re: Incorrect pronunciations you have (or have had) to unlea
Yeah, it took me a bit to figure out where (I think) the differences are. Those were the only definite differences I could come up with without worrying that I was overthinking what I actually do.

Neat. I'm looking forward to seeing the info on phonology and the morpho-phonemic rules that seem to be at work here.

Re: Incorrect pronunciations you have (or have had) to unlea
/ɹaʊt/ and /ɹut/ are actually distinct words for me. My route (/ɹaʊt/) home from work crosses over Route (/ɹut/) 50. I occasionally mix them up, but for the most part /ɹaʊt/ is the word for a path one takes, and /ɹut/ is a type of highway classification. I always say /ɹaʊtəɹ/ though. /ɹutər/ just so...

I definitely hear you. The last year has been some major downs, and every time things get better something seems to come along to shove me back, at least a bit.

Re: The Contradictory Feelings Thread
The good: I've started dating a woman and it's going shockingly well so far. The bad: A friend of mine from college had a heart attack Sunday. He's doing okay and should be out of the hospital tomorrow, but he's only 30. Plus baggage from the last year has made it extra gut-punchy for me. Oh, and I'...

I'm honored you liked my stuff (though it's stuck in the middle of revision hell at the moment), and I like the look of your work. When's your point of departure, history-wise for this, and when is this supposed to be spoken? Will it survive into modern times as a language?

Re: Useful Old Saxon resources?
Good resources? Not too sure. Wiktionary's page on Old Saxon Lemmas has about 1800 entries, but I can't vouch for their quality. This page looks decent, but it's almost entirely in German (don't know if that is an issue for you). It does, however, have this Modern English to Old Saxon word list.

Re: Questions about German Thread
On a different note, does anyone know of any information on Highest Alemannic dialects? The only detailed account of it I've been able to find is a 100 year old thesis on Walser German in German. Does anyone know where I might find some more up to date info? Either in English or German would be good...

I've honestly never even heard it before. I looked it up, and it seems to just be a synonym for otherwise. Is there a difference between the two in how you would use it?

Hey, it's been ages since I've posted on this site, but I thought I'd stop in and say hi. It was last my last day at my job, which was my first "real" job in my chosen vocation (web development/programming). It's brought up a mix of emotions that, honestly, really reminds me of my last day of classe...

Hey, you mind sharing sources with me? Sure. What sort of thing are you looking for? Pretty much all ya got. I do have a particular lack of understanding in the history department, tho, as most of my info comes from homebrewed websites and Wikipedia. Between Old and Middle English, I've got about a...

Thanks! Both for the compliment and the... uh, complement catch. Fixed! Right now I'm running the principle parts of every strong verb I can find through my sound changes to look for complications that arise. So far, I'm through the first three classes of strong verbs, and already have 19 different ...

Re: The plurals of deer-like animals in English
But with deer and sheep , the unmarked plurals go all the way back to Proto-Germanic. (German Tiere and Schafe are innovations.) Do they? According to Wiktionary (not the best source for this stuff, I know, but it should be accurate in this case), Proto-Germanic had the singular *deuzą and the plur...

I just wanted to mention that I find this incredibly awesome. I've often thought about creating a diachronic conlang in such a way (stage by diachronic stage), but have always shied away from the massive amount of work it entails. I hope you have the stamina to keep going! I hope so to! As someone ...
