Too bad r0ry.co.uk doesn't exist anymore (since he's gone to Ohio I think?), i.e. Rory's page with its Mirror.

This makes me want to completely revamp my conworld as a project over the summer holidays (besides writing a 10-page paper and reading a ton of books for next semester, as well as trying to advance my grammar). Thanks!

It might help if you shave frequently in your younger years. I hear this encourages faster, denser growth. OTOH, I've often heard this quoted and contradicted as a common myth. Hair feels more rough when the tips are shaved off, which is apparently what gives the impression of hair being stronger w...

In a flash of creativity I scribbled down the other night (some of these aren't too inventive, but meh): CARRYING A CHILD IS GROWING FRUIT (obvious idea is obvious) LOVE IS A GARDEN (huh?) THINKING IS RUSTLING LEAVES (your brain's one loud computer, dude!) LIFE IS A SEA JOURNEY (yeah, on the sea!) R...

And the difficulty is that what I would put as my hometown (Ansbach, Germany) doesn't seem like it should count because I'm not German. FWIW, I don't have a "hometown" filled out in my profile either because I don't have emotional ties to my birth place and haven't lived there for the past 20 years...

This is a good point. Why do straight men always think gay men fancy them? Do I sense an ego? I said this because of the way Viktor often talks of those exchange people. I have one gay co-student and one that I think might be bi, and I get by well with both of them. Also, I'm aware that gay people ...

I'm pretty sure only good things can come of going cold turkey on HFCS. An American I've talked to once (herself vegetarian) supposed that probably one reason many Americans are fat is because corn syrup is put into almost everything (thanks to lobbyism) and that it would be turned into fat much mo...

In German, it's read as [ts] before front vowels. Nativized spellings even render it as <z> or, in the case of original <ci>, <ti> [tsi].

Ikea. Families, and young people who get their first own flat. My desk is from Ikea, also my desk chair, my desk lamp, my armchair, my nightstand, my paper bin, all three of my shelves, my eating table plus chairs, the frames of the pictures on my wall, and my night lamp. Also various cooking tools,...

If there are no other words than "half" and "ten", and "half" is first, why would one assume a plus rather than just treating it as an adjective modifying the "ten"? [sperg]You could argue that "half 10" is actually 5[/sperg] Maybe this actually works in the same as "anderthalb" = "second half" = 2...

53 kg / (1.72 m)² = 17.91. That's underweight, and indeed I'm just flesh and bones. Doctor says I shouldn't worry though.

Before that, Sigur Rós's album (), which I guess you can say doesn't have lyrics in any language. Hopelandic, though that is only babbling (and a bit repetetive at that, jú sælon í sæ jú sólæ jú só ...* ). --- *) At the beginning of Dauðalagið I always understand something like "Don't you lie" :P
